Since the 1990s, students at Grinnell College have used an entirely text-based social network thatโs virtually unknown to outsiders. Page of the day: GrinnellPlans https://t.co/1FFSPyKntp
Stay cool on the command line ๐ถ. You can now start a new Encycla page without even visiting the website first. Just do a `git clone` of a new page name ๐ Details https://t.co/OOQZYgbVcp & thanks to @kseistrup for the great suggestion ๐
Sometimes you know *just* the person to start a page. Now you can invite someone to create a page. Just click "Invite" when viewing a page that doesn't exist and send them the link! ๐๐
@kseistrup @philipn The git clone idea is cool. So idea is you could just use the git workflow entirely, no utilities needed. Think repo would need some dummy initial commit to be cloned โblankโ like this. Will add to list to explore!
@kseistrup @philipn Interesting idea. Use case youโre thinking is creating a page locally more easily before creating in web UI? Would a small utility to init dummy repo work? Or would you want it created on Encycla first, so entire workflow can happen without any web UI?
@thebeebs โจIf youโre looking for public collaboration, check us out! No git knowledge (even terminology) needed, designed entirely for ease of use. https://t.co/39DWhBKEVN
@SHaedrich@jannikmeissner If you're still looking & are doing public collaboration, please check us out! โจ We use git on the backend (& you can clone/push elsewhere/edit locally) but our web UI has nothing to do with git - it's designed to be intuitive for non-git-types. https://t.co/39DWhBKEVN
@Astrophizz@Taberone@overfireisland โจ Please check us out too! We use git on the backend (so you can `git clone/push/pull` your pages to other services/your computer). Our web UI is designed to be super usable for anyone. https://t.co/39DWhBKEVN
@jman4747@vrijomslachtig Check out Encycla for colab + public stuff. Every page is a git repository you can clone & push elsewhere. https://t.co/39DWhBKEVN
@fharper Not sure of your use case, but take at look at Encycla. https://t.co/39DWhBKEVN โจ If you sign up and click "Edit" on a page like https://t.co/qyZiY1D8Ad you'll see the workflow.
@hypescam @NireBryce Check Encycla out, too. https://t.co/39DWhBKEVN It's not free-form HTML/CSS/etc so you can't make a regular website, but it's portable (cloneable git repositories containing markdown under the hood, web UI all rich text w/ no git knowledge needed).
@peterbowyer Not sure if you figured something out, but check out Encycla if you're looking for public collaboration with git + markdown under the hood.โจ https://t.co/39DWhBKEVN
