⚠️ SOMETIMES THE GREATEST TROUBLE IN OUR LIVES COMES FROM A MOUTH WE REFUSED TO CONTROL! 👇🏽

“He who guards his mouth preserves his life, But he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction.” — Proverbs 13:3

One of the greatest lessons we can ever learn in life is that not everything we think needs to be spoken, not every accusation deserves a response, and not every battle requires our participation.

This is something I personally struggle with myself and it’s a painful learning lesson.

Think about this. A small spark can ignite thousands of acres of forest, destroying homes, wildlife, and everything in its path. Yet that entire catastrophe can begin with something almost insignificant.

James 3:5–6 uses this very analogy to describe the power of the human tongue. Something so small can produce destruction beyond anything we imagined.

How many marriages have been damaged by words spoken in anger? How many friendships have been destroyed by gossip?

How many churches have experienced division because someone repeated something they should have taken to prayer instead?

Consider the biblical examples. 👇🏽

Moses was a man who spoke with God face-to-face, yet in a moment of frustration with the children of Israel, he spoke rashly and struck the rock instead of speaking to it as God commanded. His disobedience had serious consequences, and he was not permitted to lead Israel into the Promised Land. (Numbers 20:7–12; Psalm 106:32–33)

Peter, in a moment of fear and pressure, denied knowing Jesus three times. His words became a source of bitter regret, although Christ graciously restored him. (Luke 22:54–62; John 21:15–17)

On the other hand, consider Jesus standing before His accusers. Scripture tells us that there were moments when He remained silent rather than defending Himself against every false accusation. (Matthew 27:12–14)

Sometimes silence is not weakness. Sometimes silence is wisdom. Sometimes refusing to respond is the greatest demonstration of spiritual maturity.

Think of your words like arrows released from a bow. Once they leave, you cannot call them back. You may apologize for the wound, but the damage may take years to heal.

And in today’s world of social media, this warning is perhaps more relevant than ever. People destroy relationships, damage their testimonies, and create unnecessary conflict because they feel compelled to respond immediately to every disagreement, criticism, or offense.

Proverbs 18:21 reminds us that death and life are in the power of the tongue.

Church, spiritual maturity is not measured by how much Scripture we can quote, how loudly we can preach, or how quickly we can correct someone else.

It is also revealed in our ability to exercise self-control when our emotions are running high.

Before you speak, ask yourself: Is it true? Is it necessary? Is it spoken in love? Will these words bring healing or unnecessary harm?

Remember, you don’t have to attend every argument you’re invited to, and you don’t have to respond to every person who misunderstands you.

Sometimes the wisest thing you can do is close your mouth, open your heart to God, and allow Him to fight the battles you were never meant to fight.

Lord, set a guard over our mouths, teach us to speak with wisdom, and help us recognize when silence is better than a thousand words.

Something deeply concerning is happening in Christian circles, particularly across YouTube, TikTok, and other social media platforms.

More voices are openly challenging the authenticity of the Apostle Paul, with some going so far as to claim he was a deceiver who corrupted the original teachings of Jesus Christ.

The video pictured here, titled “Why I Believe Paul is a False Apostle,” has already attracted tens of thousands of views.

While there isn’t reliable data proving how rapidly this belief is spreading, its visibility should get the Church’s attention.

But WHY are people beginning to believe this?

Much of the controversy centers on the relationship between Jesus, Paul, and the Law of Moses.

Some argue that Jesus taught obedience to the Law while Paul preached freedom from it.

Others claim Paul introduced doctrines that Jesus never taught, particularly concerning grace, salvation, and the relationship between Jewish and Gentile believers.

Still others question Paul’s authority because he wasn’t among the original twelve disciples during Christ’s earthly ministry, claiming his Damascus Road encounter was insufficient to establish him as an apostle.

These arguments have appeared in certain Torah-observant and Hebrew Roots circles, although many believers within those movements strongly defend Paul.

There is also a deeper issue emerging in modern Christianity: growing distrust of religious institutions, traditional interpretations of Scripture, and the historical formation of the biblical canon.

Social media gives these arguments unprecedented visibility, allowing controversial interpretations to reach thousands of people who may never have seriously studied the historical or biblical evidence.

But here is what deeply troubles me.

The Apostle Peter himself acknowledged Paul’s writings!

In 2 Peter 3:15–16, Peter refers to Paul’s letters, acknowledges that some of his teachings are difficult to understand, and warns that unstable people twist them, as they do the other Scriptures.

Furthermore, in Galatians 2:9, Paul describes how James, Peter, and John extended to him and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship.

And in Acts 9, we read the account of Paul’s dramatic encounter with the risen Christ.

Even the early Church provides significant historical testimony. Clement of Rome, Ignatius of Antioch, and Polycarp of Smyrna recognized and drew upon Paul’s teachings within the generations immediately following the apostles.

Think about the implications of this.

If Paul was truly a false apostle, we would have to explain why his ministry was recognized by leading figures in the early Church and why his writings became so foundational to Christian teaching.

Now, I absolutely believe Christians should ask difficult questions, examine doctrine, and test everything against Scripture. Blindly accepting religious tradition is not biblical discernment.

However, there is a tremendous difference between carefully examining Paul’s teachings and casually dismissing a substantial portion of the New Testament because someone on social media has presented an appealing argument.

Jesus warned in Matthew 24:4, “Take heed that no one deceives you.”

And Paul himself warned in 2 Timothy 4:3 that a time would come when people would not endure sound doctrine.

We spend so much of our lives chasing things that will eventually fade away. We worry about money, careers, possessions, status, and the opinions of people, while often neglecting the very things that will matter when we stand before God.

The older we get, the more we realize just how quickly the years have passed. What once seemed like an eternity now feels like the blink of an eye.

James 4:14 reminds us that our life is like a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.

Every possession we accumulate will eventually belong to someone else. Every earthly position we hold will one day be occupied by another.

But the decisions we make concerning Jesus Christ carry eternal consequences.

The greatest tragedy isn’t that our lives are short. It’s that we can spend an entire lifetime preparing for everything except eternity.

May we learn to number our days, forgive quickly, love deeply, pursue holiness, walk humbly, and live with an eternal perspective.

Because one day, the things we thought mattered so much won’t matter at all, and the things we neglected may turn out to have mattered the most.
