This is #DevilsFingersFungus! This smelly, strange-looking #fungus hatches from a slimy, gelatinous ‘egg���. As it grows, the tentacle-like arms start to protrude. It smells attracts insects to its arms where the spores are found. The spores are then spread by the visiting insects.

Did you know? In total we have surveyed nearly 17,000 ash trees across our estate to understand the effects ash dieback is having.

Another lovely sunny October day, walked the top loop @KentWildlife Cromer Woods. A Speckled Wood still on the wing was a surprise. Blackbird x3, Woodpigeon x2 & Jackdaw (heard) were the only birds. Some fantastic fungi now beginning to show.

Our nature reserve with the largest number of ash trees identified as showing signs of dieback is Queendown warren, which has 2,011 infected trees. 183 of these trees are large ash trees showing signs of severe dieback.
