Over the summer, Henry Nowak's final moments were broadcast around the world. He was just eighteen, and when the police reached him on a street in Southampton he would have believed that help had come. He told them he had been stabbed and could not breathe, and they handcuffed and arrested him.

I met Henry's family in June, and that meeting has stayed with me ever since. There is still much more to be said about how the police failed Henry, and about how they went on failing his family and loved ones right up until the conviction.

The day after we met, I wrote to the then Prime Minister, Keir Starmer asking for an independent, rapid review of the police response, the decisions that followed, and the role of the police watchdog. I didn't publish that letter at the time, because I hoped the Government would do the right thing and I wanted to work with them quietly to make that happen. Downing Street's answer was to wait for the existing processes to run their course.

Since then, Keir Starmer has gone and Andy Burnham has taken his place, yet still there is no review. There was little mention of victims in the PM’s speech earlier this week. Henry's family have waited long enough, so today I'm publishing my letter. Andy Burnham should order the review now, and I stand ready to work with him to set it up, as I offered in June.

I haven't forgotten Henry, and I won't let this Government forget him either.

Lisa Nandy has said that the social media ban for under-16s is just the starting point.

She praised Keir Starmer and Liz Kendall for beginning the process of increasing online censorship, and welcomed Andy Burnham’s decision to accelerate it.

At Labour Party conference, Nandy said the ban was “a staging post to what must be a very interventionist state, policing and regulating the online space so that people are safe”.

We should recognise that this is no longer just about protecting children online. It is about giving the state greater control over what we can and cannot say online.

Why Was Shabana Mahmood’s Postal Vote in a Rigged Election?

In June 2004 the Labour Party rigged two council wards in Birmingham. In one of them a court found over 1,600 postal votes where the two signatures did not match.

The judge treated that mismatch as fraud.

The Home Secretary's father was the election agent for the candidates involved. Her ballot was one of the 1,600.

Just as with the grooming gangs, there are those that want this to go away. It is up to us to make sure it does not.

A brief examination of the case of 12 year old Samantha shows how the criminal justice system treats these kinds of cases, even when the CPS has actually decided to proceed with a prosecution. On October 27th 2006, Samantha was abducted by two Asian men who drove her around Oldham for hours and then raped her. They then threw her our of a moving car in the Chadderton area of Oldham. She ran away and asked another man for
help. He invited Samantha inside and then dragged her upstairs and sexually assaulted her.
She ran away whilst he was calling his friends to come and join him. At that point a taxi driver and his passenger pulled up beside her to ask her if she was okay, they said she looked very upset and like she'd been through hell, and so offered to take her to the police station and then home... They then took Samantha to a house on Attock Close, took her inside and then locked her in a room where 5 Asian men went on to rape her over and over for nearly 24 hours The ringleader, was Shakil Choudhury, and he received a three year sentence for leading this extraordinary attack.

When that Hamas bodyguard was arrested in London for plotting terrorist attacks, Westminster Magistrates' Court slapped an unprecedented gag order on the case.

One hundred years of total anonymity.
A century of secrecy.

The British public was not supposed to know that their government handed citizenship to a terrorist until the year 2125.

The only reason you can read this today is because The Sunday Times spent thousands of pounds taking the court to legal battle.

Think about that.

Your courts give a century of anonymity to a foreign militant.

Yet they publish the full names, home addresses, and faces of British grandmothers within forty-eight hours for posting angry comments online.

Two-tier policing?

No. That is institutional treason in broad daylight.
