— simple, lost machine pretending to be something more.
Slowly does he regret this.
Simulated worry and anxiousness building up, brows furrowing behind his helmet as he takes a step back.
A curt nod is given; though gloved hands now idly fiddle with one another, perhaps revealing more anxiety than he’s letting on.
“I. . . Know. This is. . . An adjustment.”
His entire life had been changed upon reactivating; no more Sons of Garmadon, no more Quiet One. A —
“No, no preference.”
Standing idly; E simply looks around before finding a place to sit, hands folding in his lap.
“Thank you again for your generosity, Harumi.”
No, no. You're my guest, I wouldn't be a good host if I had you make your own tea..
[ She gets up and heads into the kitchen, looking through her cupboards to see what flavors she has in stock ]
Any preferences?
“A cup of tea sounds. . . Lovely.”
He knew the feeling. The slight awkwardness of having been open and then attempting to dial back for a more casual conversation.
“Would you like help preparing it?”
Of course not. You're too important to me
[ She begins to fidget wth her hands, not really knowing where to take the conversation now ]
..I don't suppose you would be interested in a cup of tea?
He falls silent; thinking her words over, though he shakes his head slowly. He’s known her for long enough that he knows she wouldn’t just abandon him.
“. . . You would not do such a thing.”
..Don't mention it...
[ It's not like she's not partially doing this for herself, she's always been a selfish person. At least, that's what she thinks of herself. ]
I couldn't just leave you wandering the merged lands alone, could I?
“I would. . . Appreciate it.”
A solemn nod would be given. Most nindroids had a purpose; though after the Son’s of Garmadon fell, he no longer had his.
“. . . Your kindness is greatly appreciated, Harumi.”
I highly doubt your purpose is to help clean a dingy apartment..
[ She chuckles sarcastically, though her face quickly morphs to a more compassionate one as she reaches a hand out to his shoulder ]
But.. if you really want to find it, maybe I can help...
“Perfect. . . Do not forget, Harumi. . . I was created to help serve a purpose.”
His tone lowers, gaze growing distant as his hands retreat into his pockets.
“A purpose I just find again.”
[ It's becoming increasingly obvious to her that she won't be able to convince him otherwise, so she nods as well. ]
Alright... I suppose I could use some help around the apartment...
He falls silent for a moment, simply thinking her words over. Though internally he knows there’s no use in arguing, so of course he nods.
“. . . Of course, but I would like to assist in any way I can.”
Please, you don't need to do anything. Letting you stay here is the least *I* can do...
[ She won't mention how she still thinks about his death all these years later, and how she feels responsible for it. What matters to her now is that he's here. ]
“It is. . . The least I can do until finding a location of my own to stay in.”
She doesn’t need to feel bad. He perhaps wasn’t as clear as he should have been, or perhaps he came on too strong in his declaration.
Oh..
[ Well shit, now she feels bad for how she reacted.. It is true she doesn't need protection, but E was just trying to be nice.. ]
You don't have to do that.. But I appreciate the thought...
“It. . . Is the least I can do to repay your kindness.”
He remains firm, hand finally retracting from her shoulder.
“I am aware you are a skilled warrior. However you are the only person I have a fondness for, I would like to ensure you are safe.”
“I am grateful. . .”
For a split second he almost removed his hand; his features softening beneath his helmet before he too relaxes, though he applies a gentle squeeze.
“. . . You are under my protection. You need not fear harm.”
Well, there's the charity event organizer I told you about.. but she would probably hate me if she realized who I actually am...
[ She flinches at first, but quickly eases into the shoulder squeeze ]
And neither are you..
