By the way this is why you don't want to keep catching Covid over and over. There are no real treatments. Just the simmering insinuation that if you don't recover it's something you're not doing right.
Not that there's a virus deep in your bones that's keeping you sick.
Long Covid threatens too many systems at once: labor policy, disability systems, infection-control(/narratives), health-care capacity, psychiatric and functional medicine turf, public-health credibility, and economic normalization. When a disease is expensive to acknowledge, institutions($$$$) tend to invest in disease explanations that offload liability: Stress. Beliefs. Deconditioning. Anxiety. Maladaptive nervous system patterns. These explanations may describe one layer of illness, but they also conveniently relocate responsibility back into the patient. This also happened with ME/CFS and HIV/AIDS.
Rep. Auchincloss admits on the record that the mass surveillance and censorship laws he and his ilk are seeking to pass are a massive threat to free speech, and he suggests pushing the moral panic about "kids mental health" in order to circumvent the very legit speech concerns.
New study showing that infections increase the risk of bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and other psychoses
- skin and soft tissue infection x1.16
- uti x1.44
- gut infection x1.53
- lower respiratory tract infection x1.28
- sepsis x1.69
- meningitis/encephalitis x3.36
Half the people who are sick do not even need to be sick, doctors just refuse to treat them.
I can’t even get a f*cking serious infection treated in this system.
It’s not healthcare; it’s health abuse.
1. Remember that any attempt to paint Long Covid as psychogenic in nature deliberately and completely incorrectly biologically decouples SARS-CoV-2 infection from Long Covid. In essence, this rhetoric shifts the causative factor for LC from the virus to the patient's mind.
did you know that apparently if you try to act normal the normalness doesn't come through but the acting does. and did you know apparently everyone can smell this on you like a bloodhound
@NiaFrome they have a view of basic education as moralistic and preachy, to the point where they feel condescended to by dietary recommendations. but the dominant media worldview is simply reality, neutral and so obvious it need only be implied.
@NiaFrome i know someone like this. they don't realize tabloid headlines designed to elicit a specific reaction are propaganda, because it feels like they arrive at the conclusion themselves. unlike when someone earnestly and openly tries to inform them and advocate for something.
Talk to anyone who’s excelled in a field they got into to make a difference and you’ll find them jaded after a few years once they realize that the system is set up to make sure obvious and universally known solutions are never implemented and known crises are simply managed as cheaply as possible.
When I just had mental illness I thought people would be kind and understanding if only I had a physical illnesse. And then I got invisible illnesses and I was like if only I was visibly disabled people would be nice. Then that happened and I realized are horrifically ableist
@BlondaeBack@montypythong exactly! also you can't work on your relationship skills in isolation, it only works if people keep giving you chances. maybe her internal work is all done and she's still stuck
@heysugardumplin it's the only way we're ever taught to cope with risk from childhood. follow the rules and be smart, and you're "safe" and it's all those bad undeserving people absorbing all the risk.
