The increasing use of federal institutions to disrupt governance in opposition states in Nigeria is condemnable. As I said in my last newsletter, no government is above scrutiny but when institutions like the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) are utilised to witch hunt specific states or public office holders, it indicates that their investigations are selective and erodes public trust in these institutions.
The “freezing” of an official state government account without due legal process goes beyond the powers vested in the EFCC by the laws of our land. And the timing of the action suggests that this is just another attempt by the federal government to unduly influence the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State.
Federal institutions must remain faithful to their constitutional mandate by acting with fairness, professionalism and political neutrality at all times. We therefore call on all Nigerians, civil society organisations and the international community to remain vigilant. Democracy cannot thrive where our institutions are perceived as instruments of political intimidation. Protecting the independence and credibility of our institutions is essential to preserving public trust and safeguarding Nigeria's democracy. The rule of law must prevail over the rule of politics.
By their fruit you shall know them. Even Jesus had His Judas.
Who’s should have spoken the truth to power before Cardinal Onaiyekan came out. He has spoilt himself with the kings meet
If you have seen this face appear on your TV or phone screen to criticize Cardinal Onaiyekan, just disregard it.
Why?
Because the supposedly Bishop does not speak in the capacity of a Bishop, but as a political appointee.
Bishop Stephen Adegbite was appointed as the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission in January 2024 by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In 2025, he assumed the role of Chaplain of the Aso Rock Villa Chapel.
Bishop Adegbite currently holds both positions concurrently.
So, do you expect such a man to speak any truth contrary to the position of his appointor?
Of course not.
When I heard him speak, I had to go and search about him because I realized something was not right.
Here you have it...
Lol.
I am Ekene Aninze, Esq.
@masurge7 Yes oooo. It’s better to be OK👌 .
Clean and Clear . No disparity in his certificates , age and his background generally. Rather than putting our vote on some an failure trying to shift responsibility to tax payers yet siphoning these tax payers money.
When those who are supposed to uphold the laws of the land now uphold the useless mandate of a Dubious Politician then that nation is done for.
Shame on the Nigerian Bar Association, The Judiciary, The Bar and Bench.
@masurge7 I agree in toto. We both know a popular SAN whose goes by the name Festus , he started good for a while but sooner than expected he derailed and now dining with the devil in charge. Im sure you get that😉
Let Mr President hear what the spirit is saying and not turn a blind eye with deaf ears to the truth. He should remember king Pharaoh. People are suffering
