Capacitor energisiations lead to high frequency inrush currents and subsequent voltage increases. The latest issue P28 gives envelopes that voltage rises must stay within. Check out our paper to see the analysis across a range of sizes and fault levels.

Once the site and upstream protection devices are fully modelled we go through an iterative process with the settings. The ETAP interface allows for the curves to be minipulated in real-time, but we also use hand calculations. Check out the full report https://t.co/9HDB2MMmE6
With our growing Power System Studies department, we're proud to announce the well deserved promotion to our Senior Electrical Engineer, Kerim Ozer and our recruitment push to grow the department due to increased demand.

We use #PSCAD™ to model the #ShuntReactor, #CircuitBreaker and connecting #cables. The significant elements of this section of the model were the cable #capacitances, stray #capacitances and equivalent reactor model. The full paper can be found here - https://t.co/q5GrRVi3Au
We investigated a number of different start up methods for motors. These included Soft Starters, Slip Ring #Motors and Variable #Frequency#Drives. Check out the paper to see how they performed and which did the best in terms of voltage dip mitigation - https://t.co/ZCJTS4DREb
WE ARE HIRING!

Due to continued #growth within our #Power#Systems#Studies division Enspec are looking for an #engineer to join the team. If you would like to be considered and find out more, drop us a copy of your CV at [email protected] and we will be in touch.
This studies aim was to model the switching and #fault conditions around a 33kV #shunt reactor to ensure the Circuit Breaker was sufficiently rated. Check out the full case study on our website - https://t.co/q5GrRVi3Au. You can also download the full example paper from the link.
Many of the #CT and #VT requirements for #PoW switching are already included in standard #switchgear arrangements. We have carried out a number of #retrofit installations and these connections can easily be adapted and connected on site.
Really happy to be coming out of lockdown and back into full swing. Couldn't have done it without one of our main men, Dave Jones. He ensured all staff were retained and has now been honoured as a Fellow of the Institute of Engineering!

We import the various P28 issue 2 curves into #PSCAD to give a direct comparison with the #voltage dip. Here you can see the assessment of the whole site #energisation against the very infrequent #P28 limit. Resulting in a compliant result for our client.
When switching #transformers with a 3-pole #CircuitBreaker the #SynchroTeq uses a patented #residualflux algorithm. As the algorithm calculates each time there is no need to control the opening of the CB, this can be done directly via #protection devices. https://t.co/hXZnaLJaCP
Last year Enspec's Tim Rastall and Kerim Ozer presented a paper at the 2019 INMR World Congress on the application of surge arresters to protect capacitor banks. The paper has now been published, check it out here - https://t.co/guMbBcGEtK.
Using #PointonWave switching on #transformers with 3-pole circuit breakers is a great low-footprint and cost effective option.
The #SynchroTeq's patented residual flux algorithm allows it to be applied to 3-pole circuit breakers. See the full paper here: https://t.co/hXZnaLJaCP
Manufacturing is starting up again, with our #SystemStudies division in full swing. After a long #lockdown period, we're excited to be back in the office to help clients with new connections and grid code compliance.
