@LeahHasTime Environmental racism is the tendency to dispose of toxic and hazardous waste in areas with poorer populations and minority groups. #CreateRealChange
@LeahHasTime I tend to combat this by trying to search for organic and locally sourced meats that are not mass produced but I’m all for reducing our overall meat intake. #CreateRealChange
@LeahHasTime To be completely honest, the first thing I ever heard was probably, “Global warming isn’t real” or “it won’t affect me in my lifetime”. Thankfully much has changed since then. #CreateRealChange
@1vanessajackson I think the first step is forming better regulations for distancing these waste facilities from any housing or communities as well as finding safer ways to dispose of toxic wastes. #udeservebetter
@1vanessajackson Toxic waste facilities and plants such as refineries have been linked to many long-term health problems such as increased risk of cancer and lung disease. #udeservebetter
@1vanessajackson I think it absolutely plays a roll when you look at populations and where some of these facilities are located whether it is deliberate or not. Many of these facilities are located in working-class and poor neighborhoods that generally have a lower cost of living #udeservebetter
@1vanessajackson Unfortunately, much of the worlds powerful tend to want to marginalize minorities, so waste and harmful production plants are often placed or directed toward poor or minority neighborhoods. #udeservebetter
@1vanessajackson When minority neighborhoods receive the brunt of toxic waste disposal or are put in the way of other environmental hazards. #udeservebetter
#ShareAMeal That was the last of my questions. Thanks for attending!

#ShareAMeal A6: I do think it is possible, but I don’t think that it will ever be achieved. It is hard to get everyone to do anything, let alone something like limiting their food intake and waste.
#ShareAMeal A4: Learning to eat what our bodies actually need and not everything we want would be the ultimate answer but giving regulations to adjust the way restaurants operate, to reduce thrown out leftovers at the end of the night, would be a great goal.
