(1/5) Nicola Lake and some other lakes around the province are currently experiencing algae blooms. We are aware of the ongoing algae bloom on Nicola Lake that started at the end of June and many of the other blooms thanks to people contacting the Algae Watch website. Government
(4/5) and increases in nutrients. Cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) can produce toxins, and those toxins can be released into the lake when the algae begin to die.
