When we share and acknowledge struggle is when we can grow most as teachers and as individuals. Went to a national camp this week and found myself in way over my head. I was a student all week, and it was a lot harder than I thought it would be.

Last Mother-Son Cellcom today. We’ve been running this event together since Mason was 8. Today we tackled the 1/2 Marathon Relay with Mason taking longer stretches as this was my first race since my brain hemorrhage last year. Took 14th of 46 teams, finishing just over 2 hours.

Mother-son road trip this week to check out some colleges and visit the Henry Ford Museum of Innovation.

Congrats to our @hssdbv show choir for being named Middle School Grand Champions yesterday at the Packerland Showcase! Many students had to head back to school for the closing “Shrek” performance, so we had a surprise celebration at the end of the show! @HSSD

Congrats to the @hssdbv & @BayPortHS show choirs for taking third place finishes in their divisions at the New London Singstock Show Choir Competition this weekend! Bay View also brought home the Spirit Award and Best Soloist Award in the Middle School Comp! @HSSD @BPShowChoir

Sometimes I think I’m not that old. Then when cleaning and packing my classroom for upcoming construction I find this and I’m brought back to reality.

Before heading on the road, we stopped at St Vincent Hospital to deliver Thanksgiving breakfast treats to the amazing ICU staff to express our thanks for their kindness and top notch care, during such a scary time this year. Tears were shed as we thanked them, for saving me.

Three months ago today I spent my birthday in the ICU, facing severe complications from a brain hemorrhage...Once I was out of the woods several friends told me I needed a “do over” for my birthday. Today was my do over. I sang, I smiled, I laughed, and I cried! #soundofmusic
