This means every new transaction starts with zero motes and the standard 1.00% fee. To receive a lower fee, you must first generate motes by swapping earlier in the same transaction. The fee reduction never carries over to future transactions.

Motes cannot be transferred, stored, or used later. They only exist while the transaction is running. When the transaction finishes, they disappear automatically because transient storage is cleared by the Ethereum Virtual Machine.
