Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to resign over what he described as failures in governance, citing the resignation announcement of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer as an example of political accountability.

Owning Up to Leadership Failures and Political Responsibility
This morning, I listened to the British Prime Minister’s speech announcing his planned resignation in July. As a keen observer of global politics, my primary interest lies in examining what successful nations do right and the structural factors that cause others to lag or struggle with governance and development.
The Prime Minister’s planned resignation comes amid mounting public frustration over a stagnant economy, a worsening cost-of-living crisis, and a perceived failure to honour key campaign pledges.
Looking inward in our dear country, we can recall our own situation. Before 2015, our President on several occasions championed the call for the then President Goodluck Jonathan to resign over economic hardship and insecurity affecting Nigerians. During the Chibok school kidnapping incident, he demanded the immediate resignation of President Jonathan, arguing that the government had failed in its most fundamental duty of protecting lives.
During the 2023 election campaign, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu made several promises, including improved electricity supply. He also challenged the electorate not to vote for him for a second term if he failed to deliver on those commitments—particularly in providing stable power, fighting corruption, and improving the welfare of Nigerians.
At present, however, these conditions have worsened. Electricity supply remains unreliable, insecurity has intensified in many areas, including kidnappings, and economic hardship has deepened rather than eased. Similar concerns are reflected across other critical sectors such as security, infrastructure, transportation, and anti-corruption efforts, all of which have regressed. We are in the worst possible condition.
I, therefore, join Nigerians of goodwill in calling for the resignation of the President over monumental failure in governance. Such a gesture would help enthrone a political culture rooted in accountability and responsibility, rather than further entrenching impunity. It would also send a powerful message that public office is a sacred trust, not an entitlement, and help build a society in which future leaders understand that failure carries consequences. Only by ending the culture of impunity can we secure a better future for the society our children will inherit in a New Nigeria that is possible. -PO
Peter Obi, stop wasting your time explaining. Nigerians do not deserve a leader like you. They prefer criminals and the same people making them poor. If I were in your shoes, I would enter the next flight, leave the country, and watch from far as these looters completely destroy everything in the coming years.
@cousinray_ The woman you are married to, if you eventually become rich can you re-sign and hand over your company to her. Do you have such confidence in her ability?

This is one of the APC operatives whose brief is to sow seeds of voter apathy. There's no need to attempt to reason with him. Just cuss him out and outwork him.
It pains me when people only sees Peter Obi as a politician, as a former governor
Where I’m from, In the early 2000s. I heard Peter obi’s name before he became governor
I used to sit with my uncles, who were army generals & surgeons in the US then & Peter’s name always come up
"In 1987, American Express introduced platinum card for 5000 people, here is mine, they later introduced the Black card (Centurion card) in 1999 for 1000 people on the planet, here is mine. I had a viable business and while I don't regret going into Politics, it made me poorer." - Peter Obi, NDC Presidential Candidate.
Mr. Wahab,
Impact is felt, not explained in 1,578 words.
Your plastic policy has failed.
Your environmental policy, if one truly exists, has been ineffective.
Your waste management policy has been an unmitigated disaster.
The only area where you have consistently delivered is the demolition of the hard earned properties and livelihoods of ordinary citizens.
Not to mention your Bigotry and Gaslighting.
You have lost the moral authority to remain in office.
You should resign.
Today.
The new Agenda is that Obi started donating in 2022. Obi himself said in 2018 that he had visited over 150 schools and hospitals.
Few examples with receipts (see comments)
2015 - Holy Spirit Secondary School Ebenebe
2016 - LGEA Primary school Kogi
2018 - Madonna Academy Onitsha
2018 - Good Shepherd Anglican Academy Kogi
2018 -St Peter’s college Nasarawa
2019 - Aguata Anglican hospital
2021 - Bishop Shanahan Enugu
2021 -st philomena hospital Edo
Peter Obi became governor 2006.
His second 4 years tenure ended in 2014.
He provided a quarters for judges in 2013 a year to the end of his tenure, when he most definitely did not need them for anything and it could not be said that it was for the purpose of compromising judges.
Tinubu increased judges' salaries within 6 months in office and is now handing over keys to mansions to them 3 years into his first tenure when he is going to stand for reelection in a year's time.
I understand you have to do the job that pays you, even when you don't believe in the things you have to do to earn a living.
Is Fola Adeola on the ballot? 😏
Because this argument would only make sense if he actually were.
Meanwhile, your Fola has excelled in the corporate world. Fair enough.
But Peter Obi has excelled in the corporate world and in politics. He built a political movement around his candidacy that continues to attract support years later.
Even many well-known serial contestants and career politicians cannot boast of that kind of organic followership.
So until Fola Adeola is actually on the ballot, I’m not sure what exactly we’re comparing here. 🤷🏽♀️
