A4 - Remaining solid in our belief that we can make a difference, however small. Continue to do the work and engage in self care so that we do not burn out. #macrosw
Q4: How can we remain optimistic and engaged in our efforts as an organization, when the future is uncertain? Bring it back to basics, focus on the mission/impact, and reimagine ways to support the people we serve. Resources might change, but the mission remains! #MacroSW
A3 - I think this is a great time to research different providers and organizations and reach out regarding future partnerships. Also a good time to brainstorm future events/activities and seek partnership with other organizations to bring them to fruition. #macrosw
A2 - Options to make it fun for participants are to make it a costume virtual gala/fundraiser. Or attempt to make it an option to join from an interesting location (in nature, by a pool, etc). This is a hard one! #macrosw
Q2: What are our options if we have an upcoming gala or fundraising event? Think outside the box! this is the time to try out that idea you had 6 months ago, to go virtual or host a remote event. It is possible and actually pretty fun to attend a Gala on your PJs haha

A1 by continuing to meet our clients needs without interruption and providing the best care that we can. I think this meets both the needs of our clients and our organizations. #MacroSW
Hi everyone! Piph here frome U buffalo's MSW program. Back for another week and excited for the interaction with you all and the topic for the night! #MacroSW
I love this topic! I am working with a client who stayed with her abuser longer than necessary simply to get her two dogs out safely because she refused to leave them with him because they were as afraid of him as she was #macrosw
Tonight weโre focusing on the Link. The LInk is the term used to describe the connections between animal abuse and other types of violence such as intimate partner violence, child abuse, and elder abuse. Animal fighting and animal hoarding are also under this umbrella. #MacroSW
A3 - Being more aware of the link between individuals and their animals and the link between animal and other types of abuse perhaps can lead to more stringent laws and policies against animal abuse #macrosw
Q3: You may already know that violence does not occur in a vacuum; if we find one type of violence in a household, weโre likely to find another. What implications does this have for #MacroSW? How can we intervene?
Looking at it through a DV lens, often women are very silent about abuse for a variety of reasons. An awareness of the linkage between animal abuse and domestic abuse can help us to be more alert to possible cases of abuse #macrosw

A2 - I am a DV counselor and pets come up often in my work when survivors are escaping from their situations. Their pets are often such an integral part of their lives they refuse to leave them behind. At times, the animals are used as a means to hurt the survivors #macrosw
Q2: Veterinary social work is typically divided into four general practice areas: animal related grief & bereavement; animal assisted interactions; compassion fatigue & conflict management; & the link between human & animal violence. How do these apply to your work? #MacroSW
From people I've observed with pets they take comfort and companionship from their pets and their pets receive love, companionship, and a wonderful home.
Ideally, human-animal relationships fall somewhere in the middle of the spectrum. In a healthy human-animal relationship, there are benefits for both parties. Anyone have examples of those benefits? #MacroSW
I dont own any animals, however, my mom has furbabies that are a huge part of her life. They are her best friends, her babies, and her constant source of comfort. I dont know what she would do without them, or they without her #macrosw
A4 - I think online conferences have a high potential to be engaging utilizing breakout sessions, polls, surveys, etc. Its hard to stay engaged if the entire conference is not engaging/interactive. #MacroSW
I agree! This has given me the time to really branch out and explore subjects that I would have been too busy for. This is something I really appreciate! #macrosw
I have attended some conferences through my employment and have found the greatest positives to be the people I have met through them and the subjects I may not have explored otherwise. #MacroSW
A3 I was set to attend the NYSCADV conference this year, which was cancelled and held online instead. While I took from it useful information, I am positive I would have taken more had it been held as normal. #MacroSW
