Kiteezi landfill has filled it's 36 acres of land to capacity. Despite posing serious negative environmental and social impacts, Uganda is putting up another 135 acres for a new landfill at Ddundu.
If we #GoForZeroWaste, we can avoid reliance on landfills. #EndPlasticPollution
GYLC had an engaging conversation in Kampala today on youth in climate action with @SadrachNirere, founder of @EndPlasticsNow, which is raising public awareness on the need to hold big corporations accountable for their continued production and use of single-use plastics;
Plastic does not degrade but rather breaks apart forming tiny particles and also leachate percolating from dumping sites. Polluting our soil, risk food security and human health.
The plight of farmers as plastic waste gains more reach into our environment.

Burning waste is unacceptable!
These materials release toxic chemicals that pollute the air as well as greenhouse gases catalyzing the #ClimateCrisis.
Lets #GoForZeroWaste instead of burning. #NoBurn#ZeroWasteMonth
To achieve #ZeroWaste, businesses must #Rethink and #Redesign product packaging and delivery to eliminate single-use. There must be actual and measurable #Reduction.
Through our brand audits we continue to expose polluters and call for action.
