We are a group of residents from Epping who are deeply committed to building a community rooted in respect, compassion, and facts not fear. Non-partisan.
These protests have:
- impacted local business (one cancer survivor has almost gone under as a direct result)
- terrified local kids and babies
- impacted house sales (one family with a disabled daughter couldn’t sell their home as the buyer no longer wanted to buy in Epping due to fears about the “far right”. They were selling to move closer to a SEN school).
- caused weeks of littering, graffiti and law breaking around families
So yeah…. we are thrilled they are fizzling out, especially when we have pleaded for their location to be refocused towards the Council buildings and it’s been ignored.
This source has no year listed - first red flag. Second - The Centre for Migration Control is not an official one. It's funded by Rupert Lowe (MP for Great Yarmouth) who claims to be independent and non-partisan. Looks like a think tank?
There are no publicly available statistics for sexual offense charges by nationality specifically in London; however, the https://t.co/7oy7K32oLw ethnicity facts and figures website provides national data on arrests by ethnicity for various crimes, though not by nationality. Related data on convictions for sexual offenses in England and Wales by nationality is disputed due to differing population statistics used in the analysis.
In terms of nationalities the only fact I could find is this FOI request to Metropolitan Police for 2022/2023, submitted in Jan 2025: https://t.co/Ugv4Lx1V3Z
The spreadsheet shows the numbers for Afghan and Pakistani nationals. I'm no statistician but Afghans (19 out 1725) represent 1.058% of offenders (in 2022 to 2023), which is nowhere near 74%...
I then googled People proceeded for specific sexual offences in London in 2022-2023 and AI provided this:
National Context for Sexual Offences (Year Ending March 2023)
Recorded Offences: Police recorded 195,315 sexual offences in the year ending March 2023. Charge/Summons Rate: The proportion of these offences that resulted in a charge or summons was 3.6%. This indicates that for every 100 recorded sexual offences, about 3-4 led to formal legal proceedings. Comparison to Previous Years: This charge/summons rate was higher than in the year ending March 2022 (2.9%) and the year ending March 2020 (3.2%).
(Data Sources: While the Office for National Statistics (ONS) provides recorded crime data and the Home Office collects crime outcomes, the provided information does not offer a specific London-only metric for the time period requested.)
TLDR - this source is not reliable and the data is confused.
There’s 129 people in there currently according to latest data from the hotel. For a cause you are so passionate about (and a hill you’re willing to die on) you’d think you’d be a little more brushed up on the actual facts.
Please link to the source of them all being “paedophiles” and we will review the evidence. Thanks

Nope - as we’re focused on #factsnotfear. We’re more concerned that these protests brought an actual, convincted paedophile to our town, not the vague risk of what the brown people might do. Stats show that 99.5% of sexual assaults in this district came from non asylum seekers in the last 12 months.
It isn’t about left or right. Many people in Epping and across the UK hold conservative views without being racist. Equally, someone can be “liberal” and still be a complete tosser. People are complex and contradictory. None of us are perfect.
“Good” is a broad term, but here it simply means refusing to go along with the blatant racial dog whistling that Carswell is engaged in. You can be called Abdul and be born in Britain. Should those people be “shipped out” too? (don’t answer that)
Charity or environmental work does not cancel out the harm caused by scapegoating vulnerable communities. If you met some of those who have been targeted and heard their stories, you might see them as fellow human beings rather than people to be jeered and spat at week after week.
