It's a great honour to receive the @RoyalAstroSoc Price Medal. This reflects a team effort and I'm privileged to collaborate with so many brilliant people. Thanks also to wonderful colleagues @UniversityLeeds @IGTLeeds @FluidsLeeds@IGPP for support and inspiration!

#COP28
Hectic first day at #cop28 already. Whatโs happened?
- countries agreed to get the loss and damage fund going
- many nations came forward with money for it
- uae $100m, uk ยฃ60m and USโฆ$17.5m. Green groups have called that last one โdisappointingโ
(And yes Iโm short)
Come do a #PhD with me, explore how #MachineLearning enables high-resolution earth imaging to support the green economy, and earn a proper salary (ยฃ38k/yr + benefits)!
Please share with anyone who might be interested!

My long awaited PhD graduation ๐
Big thanks to my supervisor, Prof Ana Ferreira, family and friends that came to celebrate with me!

Wow, this study is devastating for cynicism.
Here's a TL;DR:
In studies 1โ3, participants indicated they thought cynics would do better on cognitive tasks.
In studies 4โ5, cynics were tested and 1 SD of cynicism was associated with 0.25 and 0.17 SDs lower cognitive ability in studies 4 and 5, respectively.
In study 6, cynics were found to be
- less educated in 29/30 countries
- less literate in 28/30 countries
- less numerate in 29/30 countries
- less computer-literate in 23/26 countries
Cynicism is simply not smart.

Legendary broadcaster Sir Michael Parkinson has died at the age of 88.
Of the many incredible guests he interviewed over the years, he said boxer Muhammad Ali was his favourite.
Here's a clip from one of those memorable interviews from our @BBCArchive
Does the UK need more North Sea oil and gas extraction?
@C4Ciaran digs deeper into Rishi Sunakโs decision to grant new North Sea oil and gas licences.
NEW: donโt let the ULEZ chatter mislead you.
The British public is much more supportive and united on Net Zero policies than the public in peer countries, with Conservative voters frequently as green as the centre-left elsewhere https://t.co/AdOr9I1Rtg
Yesterday we took part in a multi-team sampling campaign to assess air quality impacts from the ongoing eruption and wildfires. Here you can see ground based filter packs and optical particle sizers running in the wildfire plume #fagradalsfjall#litlihrutur#airquality
