RBS Giffnock is due to close on 17 Sept 2026. This follows the loss of Clydesdale Bank and Bank of Scotland branches in recent years. I am taking this up formally with RBS owners NatWest and will seek clarity on the closure assessment, cash access assessment and mitigation plan.

This is absolutely ridiculous. Elected members deal with members of the public who have very sensitive situations such as women seeking support for housing after fleeing domestic abuse.

In such situations they can request a female doctor, a female police officer, and should be able to easily find a female MSP of the 8 who serves them.

The same applies to men seeking male support specifically.

Public service should not be hindered to protect the lifestyles of Holyrood’s minority fringe.
