ACEP Council in the rear view mirror! Such great debate and ideas to drive ACEP forward.
It was so much fun to Chair Ref Com B, and I promise I enjoy the debate, even if this is the look I give you when the discussion drags on 🤣
@ACEPNow @EmergencyDocs @AdvocacyMD
Whew! Day 1 of ACEP part way done. Getting great media training right now and then off to talk about #fatigue, #patientsafety, and #physicianwellness.
We have to start understanding that working tired isn’t safe for patients or physicians. @EmergencyDocs @ACEPNow
@arghavan_salles@EmergencyDocs 2-Rather than shut down a contrary opinion, we are changing focus of his talk at LAC to discuss how his legislation hurts our patients and our physicians.
Can’t influence people you won’t talk to.
@arghavan_salles@EmergencyDocs This is absolutely a concern for us at ACEP.
1-speaker was invited prior to his introduction of this legislation because of track record of support of patients and physicians.
ACEP is working hard to ensure a bright and vibrant future for all emergency physicians by advocating to strengthen the workforce, raise residency training standards, protect physician-led care and much more.

Is it a tough time to be an EM physician? Yup. Is it still the best job in the world? Hell yeah.
It’s supposed to be hard. If it wasn’t hard, everyone would do it. Being hard is what makes it great.
To all the #embound docs that are joining my tribe, welcome.
Let me get philosophical a minute. I didn’t choose EM because it was easy. It wasn’t for the schedule, or the pay, or the working conditions.
I chose EM because every now and then, I get to save a life. I get to be a hero. Full on costume and cape hero.
Congratulations and welcome to all the incredible #EMBound students who matched into our great specialty today! #Match2023
We can't wait to work together with you to shape a bright future for emergency medicine: https://t.co/BIS7iJlaFc
Every day I go to work, I’m a little in awe of the space I get to occupy in someone’s life for a few hours. They literally trust me with their baby’s life. There is no greater sense of purpose.
So proud of my#embound niece who is joining the great program in Tucson! EM is still the best job in medicine, and the new class of residents will carry on the proud legacy of EM greats. @ACEPNow
Although the results of #Match2023 are challenging, we're ready to meet that challenge. We're proud to welcome our #EMBound trainees, and we're working together to ensure the strength of our workforce now and in the future.

A couple of weeks ago we had an icebreaker during my graduate seminar and the question was "What is your irrational fear?" My answer was "hammerhead sharks". And today in class I walked in and saw this:
"Scald burns are actually something that's fairly common that we will see in the emergency department and it is often smaller children that are injured," ACEP spokesperson @ERdisasterdoc told HealthDay.

Today, ACEP urged the FTC to finalize their proposed rule categorically banning non-compete clauses in employment contracts. In our letter, we detailed how this predatory practice harms emergency physicians.

“The study confirms that hiring NPs instead of physicians costs more money overall and results in worse outcomes, especially when dealing with complex patients.”

What if your PHYSICIAN CLOSED THEIR DOORS??
"The cost of running a medical practice increased 39 percent between 2001 and 2021"
And yet Reimbursements to Physicians have decreased 24.2 % over the same time period and there is a looming 8+% decrease.
