Today there was a Massive Transfusion Protocol (Patient bleeding out fast). After we got the pt more stable Dr. Walsh looks over to me and says “Man you’ve grown. You’re like a young Tom Selleck now with the mustache”
I don’t think anyone has ever said something so nice to me🥹
Start my AM telling pt not to touch medical equipment.
“I’ll touch my IV pump if I want!”
You will not because it has medication in it that-
“It’s just potassium! That’s from bananas!”
Oh you mean IV potassium the main ingredient of lethal injection? Yeah don’t touch 😊
Pt was unhappy today that I set his bed alarm after he fell last week.
Oh you want my charge nurse? That’s me.
Floor supervisor? You’re not going to be happy with that answer sir.
How about some AMA paperwork?
12 minutes of sternum breaking CPR on a coding patient and these new nurses who don’t know me ask “How are you so calm and unfazed?”
Their faces when I told them I’ve been through shit and I’m dead inside was priceless.
Do you ever feel like you just don’t connect with people? Cant find anyone that you genuinely connect with and enjoy spending time with? No? Just me? Right..
I love all my coworkers 😭 they have supported me so much during this time. I actually get thrown off when they ask me if I’m okay or need anything. Look I’m your supervisor, that’s my job to check up you guys.
