In 2022 — an all-time peak year for migration and the numbers that the Trump administration is using to justify a “crisis” at the US-MX border — Big Bend National park accounted for 0.01% of all migrant traffic. ZERO POINT ZERO ONE PERCENT
One of my favorite things about traveling is how it shatters the illusion that the life you’ve always known is the only way to live. It reminds you that there are countless ways to live, and yours is just one of them.
BREAKING: DHS just waived all environmental laws to blast border barriers and roads through Big Bend National Park.
This marks the first time in American history the feds have gutted dozens of laws to push industrial-level construction through a national park.
Your entire life will change when you stop assuming people know how you feel about them. Tell your friends you’re proud of them. Text your parents you love them. Compliment your coworkers. Say the kind thing while you still have the chance. It’s something you’ll never regret.
This is a core universal problem in the region, and it goes back to the wars of independence. You also have the issue of militaries being necessary because of external threats, from unstable neighboring countries with irredentist claims (Venezuela-Guyana issue) to US threats

Pay attention to who is willing to break the law for Trump as we head into the midterms—because his end goal is to create a system where others will break the law for him. It's about building a custom where it's normal to break the law for a person. The big case is the military
The 2nd round of Peru’s election for president is tomorrow. The big question is whether Keiko Fujimori wins on her 4th try.
However, to understand Peru it is important to think about it historically. And this book, edited by @paulodrinot & Alberto Vergara, is a very good source
“The new wall of red tape for legal immigrants isn’t some anomalous departure for the Trump administration. Rather, the bureaucratic hoops are an essential component of mass deportation.” https://t.co/i2pXfWWcVG
Trump’s new acting director of national intelligence has never even received an intelligence briefing before this Thursday.
For context, the White House janitorial staff held a higher security clearance than the new Intelligence Director.

And by way of contrast, history graduates have had very robust employment prospects for decades. Not least in law firms, which I’ve said before should be paying a special tax directly to history departments for churning out such excellent pressure-ready evidence-based arguers.
They've killed 204-206 people. But "they have not used the presence of narcotics on the boat as one of the targeting criteria."
THEY HAVE NOT USED THE PRESENCE OF NARCOTICS ON THE BOAT AS ONE OF THE TARGETING CRITERIA.
