@petebray It makes me question the EIPV usefulness of analysis with rurals. I mean it’s handy but usually you just do absentee or Election Day. We only have two years of EIP voting so it’s not natural for most.

@petebray Funny I had a ballot issue so wne to the clerk here in Antrim county (rural N MI). Light early voting as always but slightly more than primary. It just doesn’t matter much up here since there are never lines. She said there’s a county with a precinct open 9 days for a 60 voters

@TonerousHyus @earlyvotedata Guessing they have sort of auto registration for voting when you get your drivers license now. So it’s why lots of registered voters don’t actually vote. Probably why you see tons of people who get registered in states like NV but don’t mark a party b/c they don’t plan to vote.

@earlyvotedata I see so many use the primary voter totals as a proxy for enthusiasm and I find it a little compelling. But there are many factors into why one is motivated to vote in a primary. Is it competitive? If you look here in MI Ds will crush Rs but was there really much of a R race? 🤷🏽‍♂️

@TonerousHyus I just feel like the biggest issue is Rs have depressed voting b/c unpopular war by Trump, gas and prices and Ds w/ depressed voting because it’s just voting against Trump but not for anything. Hard to get enthused if you’re not really voting against Trump - just the party.

@TonerousHyus I am very skeptical that an average or even more engaged voter is at all worried about the mail. I have never once heard a single soul mention that. It can’t be more than a fraction of a fraction of a per cent of voter who has even heard of it.
