Today Mayor Kelly and other local elected officials announced that they’re rebuilding Wilcox Blvd Bridge using $25 million dollars of federal funds. According to Fire Chief Hyman first responders will now be able drastically to cut down their response times to East Chattanooga.

New details from the pursuit that took place in Hamilton County Saturday. During the chase, the suspect struck two unrelated vehicles injuring one person. The HCSO says at the time of the pursuit the suspect Marcus Graham was wearing an ankle monitor for probation/house arrest.

In the report obtained from THP, it says after Graham struck one of the civilian vehicles, the crash ejected him 50 ft before he landed on the road. The chase began after a deputy saw Graham wasn't wearing a seat belt and failed to comply after the deputy tried to pull him over.

As storms, hail and heavy winds strike it leaves a trail of damage including this tree that fell on top of a woman's house while her 92 year old mother was inside. And this isn't the only damage in our viewing area that's put residents safety at risk.

Tiffany Isaza was arrested for a DUI a 3rd time Thursday after the death of Dustin Ledford in 2010. There have been pushes for stiffer DUI penalties and law changes since. I'm speaking with legislators about what can be done to prevent multiple DUI offenders from striking again.

A TN law took effect that increases access to naloxone a drug that prevents overdoses from being fatal. Health care practitioners can now prescribe it to those at risk for overdose including family, friends and county entities. One man says this law could've helped him years ago.

This afternoon CPD and SWAT responded to 1201 Boynton Dr where an office personnel was held hostage. The suspect and victim were both women. CPD says negotiators were able to talk the suspect into coming out. The victim is ok and the suspect is now in custody and facing charges.

Thacker is facing one count of wire fraud and violated 18 U.S. codes according the federal judge. At the moment the judge says he’s facing a maximum of 20 years, the minimum has not yet been decided.

Rhea County Executive George Thacker appeared in federal court today for wire charges after lining his pockets with CARES Act loans. The executive plead guilty and is scheduled on 09/22/22 for sentencing. His attorney declined to comment after due to the nature of the case.

Dennis Clark with The Equity Alliance says policies for use of force should change. He tells me if you get pulled over you shouldn't lose your life.

Data from the National Urban League on the state of Black America was released last week. The area with the most inequality was social justice at 57%. This means 43% of Black Americans are experiencing inequality when it comes to issues like equality before the law and more.

According to https://t.co/r3bxncOlUu downtown by MLK has the highest use of force rate via CPD. In the 63 incidents since 2018, 23 involved Black residents. Total Black pop. for the area is 530. There were 35 incidents with white residents and a pop. of 1250 in the area total.
