My mother died when I was 4. During her last months, knowing she was dying, she knit jackets for my father and me. They are the only things from her I own. Today I gave them to my son and grandson. Somewhere I know she’s smiling.

I just finished the fifth draft of a novel, the changes driven by great suggested by my editor. It's a good novel, lots of levels. Then I hear a song by Samm Henshaw Bees N Things - Wherever life takes you, make sure it takes me with you. Two lines of emotional genius.
Dear writer friends. If you need to pay money to be nominated - and then everybody who pays money wins an award, it's not an award. If you did this and proudly proclaim your award it's just embarrassing. This is a scam being hoist on writers n you're supporting it.@CANSCAIP
@EricRWalters Thank you all your wonderful stories. As a classroom teacher I remember so many students saying please just one more chapter during all of your read alouds.
@PhilCollinsFeed I've spent the day working and listening to Genesis and your solo work. The scope of the music is one thing but I was amazed how much of your work has been the soundtrack of my life - ups and downs, wins and loses, successes and failures. Thank you.
Finished the second draft of my latest novel, tentatively called Playing By Ear. Now it goes to my wife as my first editor. She catches all the things I miss - and there are always so many!
