We've just won an LABC award! Well done team. As the award is for inclusivity, big thanks to @OpeMed who installed the specialist equipment. https://t.co/SHuqfgwqUA
We made the mistake of trying a @TesupStore turbine for one of our houses. Lasted less than a month before the turbine detached from the hub (and it produced v.little energy beforehand). Company then ignored any correspondence.
My wind turbine lasted three days. The thing fell apart. @TesupStore utterly useless.
After sales were very poor. I'm a Yachtmaster instructor. Raced most oceans on the planet and some Tessup employee tried to tell me about wind strength....
Not worth going there.
@peterrhague Not sure that building regulations are to blame (as claimed by the original post), as we are able to build new houses with big windows upstairs. More to do with certain construction companies trying to cut costs and maximise profits.
Very excited to get our electric company cars from @VolvoCarUK, especially being able to charge them from our solar panels (PVs and charge point installed by us, of course).
One project we’ve been working on this summer has been a natural swimming pool (currently about half full, thanks to the rainy summer). This is the rather funky Olive organic pool filter. @organicpools
As well as building #passivhaus homes, we also fit #solar PV systems to existing homes (as we had qualified to fit them to our passivhaus new builds). Some glorious skies over Didcot last week.
Finished commissioning this PV array on Friday, and this was today’s results, as recorded by the @HuaweiSolar app. Payback in 7 years (less if they get paid for the kWs fed back to the grid).
How does it take @ssencommunity two months to even respond to G99 (micro generation application), when it takes @nationalgriduk just 12 hours to approve?
Also SSEN charges £360 for the connection, and National Grid is free…
The kitchen in one of our recently completed #passivhaus homes in Wiltshire. Each kitchen is unique, chosen by our clients, to ensure the kitchen design meets their bespoke requirements, and making the house their home. This kitchen was supplied by @Br_kutchenhaus.
@Eastreadingcom@StrakersWorld@PassivhausTrust Yes. Essentially, you need to have a fire-retardant layer behind / under the PVs. In practice, this means either roof tiles or (if fitting integrated PVs) cement board.
