Last year, I applied for the Faber Writing Academy’s Writing a Novel program, & while I was unfortunately not selected for that course, they forwarded my writing sample to the Writing a YA Novel program & I’VE BEEN OFFERED A PLACE!!! 🥳
Thank you so much! I can’t wait to begin!
@JenDragonRose Thankfully they’re not like that at all! They’re very open minded about genre, just so long as creative pieces fit the assignment parameters (short story/extract, prose, target audience, word count etc) 😊
Personal writing has taken a bit of a back step lately as I was accepted into a Graduate Degree in Writing and Literature. However I’ve still managed to enter 6 short story writing competitions and submitted 2 assignments. Sharpening the skills… #WritingCommmunity#writinglife
@helen__chester Take a break from your WIP and look into Short story competitions. Dip in and dip out.
Different stories. Different themes.
You keep the writing flowing while recharging until you’re ready to go back x
Between September and Mid-November I was furiously writing up a storm!
Eight Competitions Later...
I have a longlisted entry and a short story being published in an anthology next year 🥰

Eeeeek!! #WritingCommmunity I entered my #contemporary#Australian#family#drama into the Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards in the emerging writer Unpublished Manuscript category. Time to swallow the nerves and start putting my work out there! ♥️♥️
A wonderful inclusion to the YA fantasy genre - and was today old when I learned that the author lives in the same city as me! @HodderBooks@HodderPublicity

I just finished #TheHummingbirdEffect by #KateMildenhall through #NetGalley I think Skylarking may still be my favourite, but this book is right up there. It’s part historical, part contemporary, part speculative fiction & it might even be her best yet. Thanks @SimonSchusterAU
