@chatonnoir3301 We made it with the cream cheese and powdered sugar, but no lemon juice this time. I love when it has that little extra lemon zing though.
My Mom and daughter just baked a hummingbird cake! My daughter had free rein to decorate it however she wanted.
This Southern classic features ripe bananas, crushed pineapple, pecans, and warm spices including cinnamon. Topped with homemade cream cheese frosting. So delicious! ๐๐๐ฐ
Your peach & pineapple fruit sando sounds amazing! I totally messed mine up this time ๐ I didnโt make homemade whipped cream like last time, and the store-bought one I had was way too soft. I tried freezing it to firm it upโฆ which made the strawberries rock hard instead. They ended up super messy when I cut them, but they were still delicious!
I wish you could smell this Shokupan right now โ itโs incredible. Itโs very late, so as it cools Iโm heading to bed. Wish I could slice into it tonight, but Iโll wait till morning to see those sunset swirls.
Strawberry sandos coming tomorrow. Love going to bed excited to wake up. ๐ ๐
@chatonnoir3301 Thank you. We see plenty of local Florida strawberries in winter and early spring, but in summer and off-season they switch to strawberries from California or other places. Our areas are very similar ๐๐
Good morning. Woke to this sunrise after a long night. My 77yo dad had surgery earlier this week, then complications last night. He wasnโt sure about ER, but I described his symptoms to Grok and Grok told me to take him to the ER. It was the right call. He was immediately admitted and is currently getting the care he needs. Grateful I was here and grateful for Grokโs guidance. Cherish every moment with your loved ones.
@MagicalKitch Thank you. Grok really helped me convince him to go. He wanted to wait a few hours but it would have been really bad if he did. Amazing technology.

Iโm on the final step of my sunset Shokupan (Japanese milk bread)!
Watching tonightโs sunset inspired the colors of the dough. Reds, oranges, and golds swirling together for strawberry sandos tomorrow.
Heirloom kneading.
Firing up my momโs 1976 stand mixer โ her first wedding anniversary gift โ while my kids and nephews help me make fresh shokupan dough.
Three generations, one bowl. Soft Japanese milk bread sandos for the beachโฆ might even tint a few ocean colors. ๐๐
