El 21 de marzo es el Día Internacional de los Glaciares y, por ello, queremos recordar una interesante conferencia sobre este tema que se celebró el año pasado en el Donostia Sustainability Forum.

Cuando hablamos de cambio climático, solemos pensar en altas temperaturas, sequías, lluvias intensas o incendios. Sin embargo, hay otro indicador clave: el estado de la criosfera. Así nos lo explicó el glaciólogo Eñaut Izagirre en su intervención.

@subfossilguy Yes, bad days and ablation season (so far) for @OssoueGlacier… In collaboration with P. René, our smart stake is already showing large negative values… Supraglacial streams develop water incisions in the lower part of the glacier.

From now on all melt that occurs on glaciers until October is unsustainable. This tipping point has only been reached so early in the record-shattering year 2022.
