We're 8 weeks into the Nottingham Inquiry with some weeks still to go.
But @nottspolice thought now was a good time to launch a podcast, instead of showing how they're trying to regain public trust by actually doing some policing.

Why cheap power could matter more than clean power in the push for net zero- even when much of the electricity is generated from renewables, which are cheap to produce, it is often gas that set the price - and therefore what everyone pays. https://t.co/VXhwR71mPc
This YouGov poll makes for depressing reading on policing and crime in the UK.
A major new YouGov survey examines public opinion towards the law and order system in the UK, with a particular focus on policing. In addition to a national survey of public attitudes, we also surveyed victims of crime and police staff on their experiences.
Key findings
Adults in England and Wales lack confidence in the law and order system, with a majority saying they have little to no faith in the system’s ability to reform offenders, investigate minor crimes, hand down appropriate sentences, or even keep prisoners locked up
Adults in England and Wales tend to think the police are doing a bad job, and lack confidence in their local police force – particularly in London, the West Midlands, and Manchester (via https://t.co/IlxFGv12K0)
Most people think crime is rising across a whole suite of offences, ranging from 85% for online fraud, to 57% for violent assault, and 52% for burglary
56% of victims of crime who reported it were overall dissatisfied with how the police handled their case
35% of victims said they did not report the incident to the police, rising to 57% of victims of fraud
By 54% to 41%, police officers think senior officers on their force are doing a bad job
Only 7% of police officers feel supported by the government (ED: However, that's 7more than the military!)
Just 14% of all police staff feel the police have a big problem with racism, with twice as many (29%) feeling it's not a problem at all in the police today
42% of women working in the police believe the force has a problem with misogyny, with 33% having personally experienced sexism while on the job
84% of police officers believe it's too easy for firearms officers who kill someone in the line of duty to face criminal charges

The reign of Visa and Mastercard is coming to a quiet, brutal end in Europe. A new "Pay by Bank" button is taking over online checkouts, and it’s doing something far more dangerous than just processing payments, it’s dismantling American financial dominance.
In the Netherlands, 72% of transactions already bypass U.S. card networks, moving money directly from bank to bank in seconds via "Wero" and SEPA Instant.
No more hidden fees, no more U.S. middlemen.
Is your credit card about to become a relic of the past?
We will see.

It's worse. Here is a more accurate reflection of the ENTIRE Royal Navy Fleet today, including Astutes and SSBNs. Aside from the 4 SSBNs, only 5 of all these assets are reportedly seaworthy, including HMS Dragon

Since privatisation water companies have taken more than £85billion in dividend and piled up more than £60billion of debt.
Yet all capital and operational costs are covered by bill payers.
So why keep a privatised structure for a natural monopoly like water?
Please help to provide our fabulous front line volunteers with the welfare facilities they deserve by contributing to our crowdfunder. They’re dedicated, turning out in all weathers to bring the canal back to Lichfield - all unpaid and in their own time.
The polling is clear: UK public is finally ready for serious NHS reform
In recent polling nearly half of respondents view healthcare as one of the three most important issues facing Britain today; with the economy (66 per cent) and immigration (50 per cent) being the other two – the Holy Trinity of today’s British political discourse.

I’ve never known politicians to sit on a SAG, this is a technical officer group that offers advice to the responsible authorities, not decisions. Government’s response to Maccabi Tel Aviv fan ban was ‘clumsy’, say MPs | West Midlands | The Guardian https://t.co/X5e1xV7nH3
