#Helene Update:

Helene has been upgraded to a hurricane, with the National Hurricane Center expecting winds to reach 125 mph over the next 36 hours, making it a Category 3 Hurricane with the possibility of reaching Category 4 strength as it approaches landfall.  

Our area can anticipate the arrival of tropical storm force conditions beginning Thursday afternoon with hurricane force winds of 110+ mph at peak and up to 8 inches of rain. These impacts would be unprecedented for Tallahassee. 

Mutual aid crews from 9 states, including Missouri, Louisiana, Ohio, North Carolina, Arkansas, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Michigan, and Florida, are arriving today. By the end of today, we will have tripled our resources for storm response and recovery. 

City administrative offices and services will close on Thursday and Friday. 

Prepare now.

@DrBritWilliams @usedgov It’s terrible. My SAVE app is still in process so Mohela has me on a regular plan and almost sent me to collections for my missed payment. I went ahead and paid one but not doing next month cause it literally won’t count for PSLF. Now on hold to request a forbearance. 🗑️
