Muslims are losing their lives, Christians are losing their lives. Hausas are and so also are Igbos and Yorubas. No tribe no matter how small it is in Nigeria has been spared from this insecurity. Why then aren’t we addressing it from this perspective and thinking of better solutions to the problem? The leaders MUST stand beyond personal gains and be SELFLESSLY visible in addressing this insecurity once and for all. For almost 16 years now, we’ve been in this mess and trying one approach in solving it, I think, it’s high time we approach it from non-corrupt and biased perspective.

TRIBUTE TO OUR “UNEDUCATED” LITERATES:

Behold: yet another ‘uneducated’ and ‘stark illiterate’ ‘Out-of-School’ child, at least according to the ‘experts’ or ‘literates’ who can barely fill a school form without autocorrect.

Meanwhile, the same “illiterate” Almajiri has memorised an entire holy book in a language that isn’t his own, mastered an ancient script most critics can’t even comprehend, and is now calmly writing long passages from memory as if it were nothing.

The real comedic irony?
Those quickest to label the youngster illiterate would struggle to produce two sentences—in any language, with any script, without Google, spell-check, and lots of tears.

Another reason for a rethink on what it means to be ‘educated’ in today’s #Nigeria.

As any system that doesn’t recognise and integrate such scholarly brilliance disenfranchises millions of very gifted young learners.
