On 27.3.25, sixteen hunters from Kano were burned down on the street of Uromi community in Edo in an unfortunate “jungle justice” incident.
Today, i am announcing this documentary “Uromi-16: The Story” that revisits the tragedy one year later.
2011
My uncle imported thousands of DVD from China to be sold at 2,800 for short DVD and 3,000 for long ones.
A competitor brought the same DVD and slashed price to 2,600 and 2,800.
My uncle instructed us to stop selling.
He ordered a branded sticker.
The only word written on the sticker was 'BOLD'.
We spent weeks branding the cartons.
For example, if the DVD brand is Dickson, we will place the sticker in front of the Dickson and it'd read "DICKSON BOLD".
Then he increased the price to 3,500 and 3,800.
Everyone in the market started buying BOLD.
Sometimes, value is perceived.
To the people of Kaduna, you can criticise Mallam Nasir El-Rufai all you want, but let’s be honest for a moment. Imagine if former Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero had handed over directly to Uba Sani, and Nasir was never part of Kaduna’s story. Take a drive from Kawo through Waff Road, Raba Road, Isa Kaita and Sultan Road, now picture those roads, the malls and the developments not existing, Mallam Nasir Elrufai is the goat in Kaduna and history will not and cannot be rewritten to suite a narrative.
This is the scariest verse I’ve ever read.
"Sometimes you will face some trials that are so severe that you will wish you had never been born."
Ya Allah please ease our affairs 😭😭🤲🏾
As a northerner who wants to ace his career in 9-5, you must be open to moving to Lagos at some stage of your career.
I know Kano is the best city in the country 😉, ya akhi, you need to go where the action is.
That’s how you grow.
You’ve committed Zina.
You’ve spiraled into the same "repeated" sins for years.
You have secrets so dark you’re terrified they’ll follow you to the grave.
You feel permanently disqualified from Mercy.
Tonight, that lie finally shatters.
It is the 15th of Sha‘bān.
Tahajjud Duas!! SAVE AND SHARE

Are we a product of our environment?
When I’m in my village, in Kano, I feel zero urge to chase any career goals. But as soon as I visit this coastal city, pressure ti de!😁
Get a balance between the daily hustle and being grateful for where you are.
Had drinks with my new analyst last night
Day 3. Still has that “I can fix this” look. Still calls me “sir.”
He picked a rooftop bar
I ordered a beer
He ordered a martini and asked if he could expense it
He opened his laptop like it was normal
Excel popped up instantly. Dark mode. No gridlines. File name: “Close_Package_FINAL_v7”
No hesitation
“Quick one,” he said. “What’s our definition of recurring?”
I said, “Expenses that recur.”
He stared at me like I’d said something political
“That’s not how it should be defined,” he said.
“Recurring is whatever we say it is.”
He pulled up last month’s close package and scrolled with one hand, drank with the other.
Stopped at “Repairs & Maintenance.”
“Too honest,” he said.
He asked the bartender for a pen.
Not to write.
To point at the screen.
“Reclass this to ‘Growth CapEx.’”
I asked if that changes anything.
He shrugged. “It changes how it feels.”
He saved three copies:
“Board_View.”
“Bank_View.”
“Reality_(Do_Not_Send).”
I asked why three.
He didn’t blink. “Different stakeholders have different truths.”
He looked up. “We maintained momentum.”
I asked how he got the numbers to tie.
He smiled. “I didn’t. I just stopped checking.”
The bartender asked if we wanted another round.
He said yes, but only if it was one-time.
I asked how he planned to handle audit questions.
He leaned in.
“If they ask, it’s timing. If they push, it’s policy. If they insist, we lost the support files.”
Silence.
He closed the laptop.
“Good news,” he said. “I built you a bridge.”
“From what to what?”
He put on his coat.
“From whatever happened,” he said, “to whatever we need.”
My name is Claire..
I was sitting in the waiting room for my first appointment with a new dentist.
I noticed his degree on the wall, which bore his full name.
Suddenly, I remembered a tall , handsome, dark-haired boy with the same name had been in my high school some 25-odd years ago.
Could he be the same guy that I had a secret crush on, way back then?
Upon seeing him,
however, I quickly discarded any such thought.
This balding, gray-haired man with the deeply lined face was way too old to have been my classmate.
After he examined my teeth,
I asked him if he had attended the same school as mine..
"Yes. yes, I did.'
he gleamed with pride.
"When did you graduate?" I asked.
He answered, "1987.
Why do you ask?"
"You were in my class!"
I exclaimed.
He looked at me closely.
Then
that
ugly
old
bald
wrinkled
gray-haired
decrepit
SOB
asked,
"What subject did you teach?”
One of the scariest punishment in Islam isn't the fire, it's when Allah stops guiding you. When you're left alone with your own egos & own desires. No signs hit. No advice feels deep. You become numb & you think you're fine.
