It’s only one half I know but I’m extremely impressed with #USMNT and their play so far. If this is the level of play we will be seeing the rest of this tournament, the #WorldCup2026 is about to get a bit more interesting than anticipated.
Whatever. The last person with credibility on this issue is Nick Saban. Holy crap. This is the coach who built Bama into the unchallenged apex predator of the arms race he is now warning Congress about, who collected $11 million a year while Olympic sports got cut at Bama, who recruited every blue-chip prospect into a system that made the "spend to win" dynamic he now decries. Saban created the conditions for the race to the bottom and rode it to seven national championships, then retired the moment the players got a meaningful piece of the revenue. Now he is testifying before Congress as the moral authority on what went wrong. This clown is the arsonist trying to put out the fire.
We still pretending he wasn’t gifting cars and cash bags to players for years? No fun when everyone can do it and your favorite team now pays the price for lack of funds, eh?
WOW: Nick Saban say he doesn’t agree with paying college athletes.
“I don’t think they need to be paid. Let’s say I pay a 5⭐️ $400k and he doesn’t perform like a top player, now I lose out on money and the fanbase is mad because the team stinks”
@NolesAndPhins I’d be fine bringing the football NIL to the baseball team. I really believe Link is our guy. This baseball team could become great. Sadly the mercenaries we keep paying in football show heart only when they feel like it & the coach checked out of recruiting. Give it to baseball.
@Brett_McMurphy@biggameJames_36 We all know it’s gonna be Atlanta. No way UGA gonna leave the state for this game. SEC teams always get the proximity advantage at “neutral” site games.
The thing about Pate, who I very much like and respect. He's still ultimately an SEC guy who grew up watching SEC football.
He's never had to experience watching his team get screwed over by biased playoff committees or AP voters (maybe he thinks he has, but he hasn't)
He's never experienced watching his favorite annual rivalry games be canceled due to realignment (the core of the SEC has stayed together for 100+ years)
He's never had to wonder if his favorite team will be relegated to a G5 despite decades of of history and elite fan support because the media doesn't consider you or your conference as "worthy"
He's never wondered what might happen to the college town (and the people) he loves if the main economic engine gets kneecaped in the name of TV revenue.
It's like if you've never seen or experienced tragedy in your life.
You might think you know what it looks like (you don't)
You might think you can understand how it feels (you can't)
If you're watching events unfold from a safe distance, even if you don't like or agree with the events that are unfolding but the part of you that feels safe enough to not worry about it will find ways to justify it.
