Nasiphi Dutywa, 41, and her nine-month-old baby girl, Ovayo, lifeless bodies were found in the boyfriend’s bed in Soweto, Johannesburg, on 9 April 2026.
It is alleged that Nasiphi told her sister she was planning to move out of her boyfriend's home with her baby. On the day Nasiphi was meant to leave, her sister reportedly received several calls from Nasiphi’s boyfriend, who claimed there had been a serious conflict and asked the family to come to the house.
When family members arrived, the house was quiet, and Nasiphi and her babies' lifeless bodies were found in the bedroom.
The bodies were later taken to the mortuary and released to the family almost two weeks later. According to the family, they were given very little communication during the investigation, but received information in the postmortem report indicating alleged poison ingestion.
To date, no one has been arrested. We are heartbroken by the loss of those two beautiful souls. When is enough, enough? #WomenForChange #UnburyTheTruth #mothersday
here we go again, i'm pacing back with him
going back and forth but this pain is in my chest
i'm braving it again, thinking,
how does this make sense
i'm hoping they're just friends
What's really upsetting is that the bail application is happening tomorrow, yet the postmortem report is not in yet. The accused claimed it was self-defence. He stabbed her in the chest and neck, his intention was to kill her😔
