WordPress 6.6.2 is out. As a result, all Esterior Network sites are being updated in both WordPress core, as well as plugins and themes.

The sites may be periodically in maintenance mode for the next hour.

All updates to https://t.co/za7dcAsJ6c pages has been completed. Endless History was the only one to have broken, and this has been handled.

There are some other backend issues across the sites that I need to look into, but this update was a much needed step to start that fix.

A lot of bot accounts registered for @kisekicrack that have bad emails and stuff. So I'm sweeping through and deleting a bunch of bad accounts right now. I'm making it a point to look over them before I nuke them to make sure they aren't active submitters.

Esterior Network sites are all cached through Cloudflare. So this is effecting all sites that are found on the domain.

There was a security issue with Endless History today, but it has been resolved.

As of what I've looked through via my investigation, no private info has been compromised at all. But user registration has been turned off.

All Esterior Network sites are currently being updated. Endless History appears to be having a weird issue with its theme that will need a day or two to iron out, so you may run into issues with it on the site.

@olivierb Additionally, moving Endless History over to a new CMS at this point would be very, very difficult, as the site has over 1400 posts and has been running for almost twelve years now.

I may consider it for future sites, but at this point, it's not something I can easily do.

There is a critical exploit affecting WordPress sites with a specific plugin. To try and tighten up the security of the sites, all of the Esterior Network sites will be going down one by one for core + plugin reinstalls tonight. I will keep updates going here.

@olivierb Unfortunately, from the style of content of that page that I'm seeing doesn't really align to what's being done by the sites with the multiple editors, since those are frequently updated blog sites. I don't have the bandwidth to be called in to assist any time they do updates.

@olivierb Additionally, I have a server admin who is a complete Boss at keeping track on helping me keep WordPress locked up tight- since I knew what I was getting into when setting it up for the site.

Additionally, future sites will be on diff CMSs or completely homemade, as well.

@olivierb How easy is fasty in terms for people who are not technically inclined? Multiple sites on Esterior Network have editors with only small amounts of web dev/design experience, and WP gives a much better user experience for them.

This process is going to take a lot longer than expected. So I'll be done for the night once Endless History is complete, then will tackle some of the smaller sites either tomorrow or Thursday. I'll keep updates going in this thread as I go through it. Thanks! <3

Endless History is the first site being impacted by this process. The site may look weird at points during this process as I'll be going through to remove and reinstall the plugins one by one. I'll tweet here when the process is complete.

This is still a preliminary time and may change leading up to the upgrade period. But it is expected to remain somewhere within 1-6am windows somewhere between Jul 12 and Jul 15th.

Hello! There are two major downtimes planned for ALL sites on Esterior Network as part of a major server upgrade that is happening with the hosting service for these sites.

It is expected to be between 1 and 3am eastern on both Monday, Jul 13th, and Tuesday, Jul 14th.
