On another note, I would much prefer say Robert Eggers, Mel Gibson or even Ridley Scott (ok maybe 20 years ago) to direct an Odyssey movie.

Even Villeneuve would probably be better.

- lastly, the way Nolan directs characters and interactions always feels very distant and detached, like why does he do this? The only real emotional parts were at the end and a bit with the crew.

Overall, a solid B.

- some of the main themes were changed in Nolan’s Odyssey for better and worse.
- the opening was pretty bad and disjointed, didn’t really pull the viewer in.
- some of the customs and characters didn’t fit well, like Circe is supposed to be a smoke-show.

What I didn’t like:

- tons of bad casting, in fact I don’t think any of casting was very good, even Damon and Hathaway seemed out of place. They kind of all did, especially Josh Bernthal, Safdie, and Page. Way better options.
- hard to hear the dialogue in a lot of scenes.

The Odyssey

Overall good movie and fun to see at the IMAX.

What I liked:

- some of the scenes and settings were epic and great especially anything with the crew, Odysseus with Penelope.
- great real sets and settings, visually very impressive.
- Damon and Hathaway were solid.
