🎙️Sully’s Postgame Comments🎙️
- On the game: Honest with you the plane ride home was not easy. Yesterday was not easy. We had a heart to heart as a group. Those guys that didn’t pitch well Sunday I challenged them and they responded. That’s all you can ask for as a coach. I challenged them all. Eli Blair pitched 1 1/3 good ball and the rest of them gave up 14 runs. I challenged them all. Pleased with how they threw the ball tonite. We were in to it, we had energy. Not gonna have the bad body language, that silent dugout, if I have to drag it out of them I’m gonna drag it out of them. That play by Kolt Myers down the line was one of the best plays I’ve ever seen. That’s what I’m talking about. The energy, the hustle. You gotta always bring it. Pleased with how they bounced back, this is a marathon not a sprint.
-On small ball: We talked about it. Grass was gonna be wet, they have a Freshmen 3rd baseman. We might not have a 3 run homer type of offense like years past. But our pitching is so good we might only have to scratch out a few runs, using situational hitting and base running. Just proud with how they responded today. We had that heart to heart. We’re gonna continue to talk about this and the way we played this weekend was not acceptable around here.
-On the Big Inning. Winning teams score more runs in one inning than losing teams do all night. You come here for a reason. Florida has a reputation. You come here cause we expect you go to Omaha. We expect to go to Omaha. And you have to play like it. We gotta go over the pop ups, but other than that it was a clean ballgame in really tough conditions.
