We don’t just live for ourselves.
Our choices carry weight—
from the past…
into the future.
Your life reflects decisions made by you and before you.
And your children will reflect yours.
So when it matters most—pause.
It doesn’t end with you.
BREAKDOWN TIME.
Over 42 people asked for the numbers behind the HALF-PLOT ginger experiment, so here they are.
Remember:
This is a real farm.
Real inputs.
Real costs.
Not YouTube farming.
Let’s get into it.
👇👇👇
SEED COST
I was lucky here.
Back on January 27th, a ginger farmer in Kaduna kept disturbing me to buy seed ginger from him, so I paid early.
At the time, a bag cost me ₦350,000.
So I bought 5 bags from him then
But For this experiment we planted:
• 3 bags × ₦350,000
= ₦1,050,000
TRANSPORT
Transport cost per bag:
₦14,000 × 3
= ₦42,000
FUNGICIDES
• Cabrio Duo = ₦75,000
• Other fungicides for rotation = ₦50,000
Total = ₦125,000
FERTILIZER
• NPK 15-15-15 + 10.2S
• ₦65,000 per bag
Only one bag allocated to this half-plot project and applied twice during the cycle.
LABOUR
Planting:
3 workers × ₦10,000
= ₦30,000
Harvesting:
3 workers × ₦10,000
= ₦30,000
Now here’s where things get interesting.
I already have permanent staff on salary.
But if you’re starting from scratch and want someone dedicated to managing the farm:
₦100,000/month × 8 months for only one staff
= ₦800,000
So let’s include it.
TOTAL PROJECT COST
Seed ginger = ₦1,050,000
Transport = ₦42,000
Fungicides = ₦125,000
Fertilizer = ₦65,000
Planting labour = ₦30,000
Harvest labour = ₦30,000
Farm manager (8 months) = ₦800,000
TOTAL = ₦2,142,000
Now let’s look at the revenue projections.
👇👇👇
SCENARIO 1: FARM UNDERPERFORMS
Expected harvest:
15 bags
If you sell when price is on the low side ₦450k per bag:
Revenue = ₦6.75M
Estimated profit = ₦4.61M
If you sell during peak price is ₦600k per bag:
Revenue = ₦9M
Estimated profit = ₦6.86M
SCENARIO 2: FARM PERFORMS AVERAGELY
Expected harvest:
22 bags
₦450k per bag:
Revenue = ₦9.9M
Estimated profit = ₦7.76M
₦600k per bag:
Revenue = ₦13.2M
Estimated profit = ₦11.06M
SCENARIO 3: FARM PERFORMS VERY VERY WELL
Expected harvest:
30 bags
₦450k per bag:
Revenue = ₦13.5M
Estimated profit = ₦11.36M
₦600k per bag:
Revenue = ₦18M
Estimated profit = ₦15.86M
Again:
These are projections.
The crop is currently only 7 weeks old.
Nature still has a vote.
But this is all expected on half a plot of land
HALF PLOT ‼️
Many people don’t have a land problem.
They have an execution problem or no access to enough info.
This entire experiment is happening on HALF A PLOT.
Now be honest:
Would you rather have HALF A PLOT of ginger or ONE ACRE of habanero pepper?
And remember…
My ₦5,000,000 bet is. Still on the line I hope you all are rooting for me to win.
The sun may be hot, but not all the moisture has to leave your soil.
A good layer of mulch helps keep moisture around the root zone for longer.
Less moisture loss, less stress on the crop.
Simple practice, big impact.
Will you be trying this out in your farm ?
Once u get married start saving for pregnancy and child birth and the rest. #1 or #2 adds up on the long run and makes it less of a burden when the need arise.
The moment you have a kid, start saving money. You are saving for the kid. Not yourself.
Even if it's 10k or 20k a month... whatever you can afford.
Compound interest is magic.
In 18 years, it will easily handle those university fees or give them a soft landing to start adult life.
Don't wait. Start today.
@Optimismking@SaniAdemu As a Christian I do not agree with this and also have not heard this before.
The pastor's response was very insensitive very very.
Some people still believe F2 seeds are a waste of time.
Meanwhile, me and my boys planted some habanero peppers just for personal consumption oh and now we’re harvesting close to 2 rice bags at a time.
The farm is solely Rain-fed.
No drip hose.
No serious expectations.
But the farm just decided to overachieve 😂.
What’s that neglected crop that surprise you with its yield on your farm before?
I am not a magician, but i can tell you for sure that @UgoAgro_ is inside the farm this morning counting watermelons. @Naija_farmers is inside his incubator room checking eggs (still figuring out how to face fulani in his farm). @ChiamakaOzoekwe is still in ogun state take selfie. @aprokofarmer is already in Lagos traffic to supply sweet corn.
@naijafemalefama is on her Laptop doing research on how to export cow bone.
@AbiolaYuusuf is planting potatoes now (cassava disappointed him 😩)
@BaaleOfMilan fit de pepper green house now.
@B_Adegbuyi is inside his office.
@delish_farms is counting eggs as am writing this.
@ASALAgriGrowth, @CharlsCutz , @childjoe, @damilolafarm@ChubyWan1 where una de?
Guess where I am 😄?
