I spoke by phone today with Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi about the situation in the Gulf, as well as Russia's war against Ukraine, which Moscow has further intensified in recent days.

In the Gulf, the reprieve from fighting can buy mediators time to find a way back to diplomacy and prevent a return to full-scale war.

I made it clear that the aggression against French diplomats in Tehran is unacceptable. All EU Member States have condemned these actions.

It is encouraging that @andrii_sybiha spoke to @araghchi to reduce tensions. I stand ready to support these efforts.

I reiterated my call on Iran to end its military support for Russia. Moscow is inflicting ever higher numbers of civilian casualties in Ukraine, and any supplies it receives are helping it kill more civilians. Ukraine has the right to defend itself.

For the second time in 24 hours, Romanian airspace has been violated by drone incursions.

I commend the Romanian authorities for their swift and effective response.

Russia’s indiscriminate attacks on Kyiv and other regions cause civilian casualties by design, not by accident.

The strike on Latvia’s Honorary Consulate in Slovyansk underscores Moscow’s utter disregard for international law. Latvia has our full support.

In response, we will summon Russia’s envoy to the EU over today's strikes and I will propose more listings aimed at Russia’s military-industrial complex.

Congratulations on your new role as UK Foreign Secretary, @Ed_Miliband. It was a pleasure to meet you in Manila today, ahead of the ASEAN Regional Forum.

We had the opportunity to exchange on our support for Ukraine, freedom of navigation, the situation in the Middle East, and the broader geopolitical landscape.

I am confident we will work well together and continue strengthening the EU–UK partnership.

I welcome the agreement on the 21st sanctions package against Russia.

At a time when Ukraine has built military momentum, our sanctions continue to weaken the economic foundations of Russia’s war effort.

We’re adding 32 more Russian banks to our transaction ban list.

As well as crypto firms and oil trading platforms.

Freezing the oil price cap adjustment for a year, so that the Russian war machine does not benefit from market shocks.

For the first time, we’re targeting vessels assisting Russia’s shadow fleet.

And we took an important step towards formally banning Russian combatants from entering the EU.

We have agreed on the 21st sanctions package against Russia.

It delivers sweeping measures targeting Moscow’s financial system, its military-industrial complex and energy sector, that keep Russia's war economy running.

We are hitting Putin where it hurts most: cutting off the financial lifelines he relies on to sustain his war.

This is not the end of the road on sanctions. We are already working on the next steps. The EU must be ready to respond to any further Russian escalation.
