The DEA congratulates the Detectives of the Special Victims Division who were honored for their tireless work delivering justice! The award ceremony demonstrates once again that our union members are truly The Greatest Detectives in the World. Staten Island Trustee Greg Silverman proudly attended to celebrate with fellow Detectives.
Today, DEA Board Officers were honored to stand alongside the Meehan family, friends, and members of the law enforcement community as a street in the Town of Hempstead was renamed in memory of retired Detective James Meehan, who courageously battled a 9/11-related illness.
Detective Meehan dedicated his life to protecting others, and even after the horrors of September 11th, he continued paying the price for that service. As his name now stands permanently at the corner of Melody Lane, so too will his memory live on in the hearts of all who knew and served beside him.
The DEA will #NeverForget.
Highly-skilled, experienced Detectives are leaving the NYPD—and New York will pay the price.
Driven out by Tier 2a.
Targeted by harassment, filming, and doxxing.
Fix the pension system. Protect our cops. Support those who protect our communities.
Tell your legislators: Enough is enough.
New York is losing experienced Detectives at an alarming rate.
The reason? Tier 2a.
The men and women who spent decades protecting this city are walking away because the pension system is broken.
Fix Tier 2a before more experience walks out the door.

🚨Momentum is building!
DEA President Scott Munro & Board Officers were at City Hall to send a clear message: Detectives have earned meaningful pension reform.
The City Council acted. Home Rule is secured. Now Albany must finish the job and fix Tier 2A.
New York cannot afford to keep losing experienced detectives because the system no longer works for the people risking everything to protect this city.
Congratulations to Detective Daniel Tilman of the 46 Precinct Squad on his retirement after 26 years of dedicated service. Wishing him health and happiness in his next chapter. Bronx Trustee Carlos Lozada proudly presented a plaque on behalf of the union. The DEA salutes you, Detective!
The DEA congratulates all of the Finest who received their gold shields at the NYPD promotion ceremony and the veteran Detectives who earned grade! Their hard work makes a difference every day. They are 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙂𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝘿𝙚𝙩𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙡𝙙.
A dark day for law enforcement — and a dangerous precedent.
A split-second decision in the line of duty now leads to prison. That sends a loud message to every cop in America: do your job, risk your freedom. And to criminals: do what you want.
This is exactly why experienced officers are walking away, why fewer are stepping up to take the job — and why public safety will suffer.
Hesitation gets people hurt. Second-guessing cops puts lives at risk.
Congratulations to Detective Rick Simplicio on his retirement after decades of dedicated service.
As Vice President of the DEA, Rick’s commitment to his fellow Detectives, the NYPD, and the people of New York City never wavered.
From a grateful union, we thank him for his leadership, his dedication, and his years of standing up for those who serve. Wishing him health, happiness, and well-earned time ahead. We salute you, Detective!
The NYPD mourns the loss of Police Officer Sorffly Davius, who passed away yesterday as a result of a medical episode while deployed to Kuwait in support of Operation Epic Fury.
Officer Davius served in the 42nd Infantry Division in the U.S. Army National Guard and rose to the rank of Major.
In 2014, he began his service with the NYPD where he was assigned to the 79th Precinct.
Today, and always, we keep his family in our thoughts and prayers.
May we never forget Officer Davius’ sacrifice and may his memory be a blessing.
Whether they were on horseback marching in the #Thanksgiving Day Parade or ensuring the safety of the thousands of people enjoying the morning, NYPD Detectives were doing it all — and DEA Board Officers were there to support every union member. #HappyThanksgiving!
Twenty years ago today, Detective Dillon Stewart was shot and killed by a violent criminal during a vehicle pursuit. A brave and dedicated young cop, he made the ultimate sacrifice for the city he proudly served. The DEA will #NeverForget our fallen hero — and we will forever stand with his family.
The Detectives’ Endowment Association congratulates Detective Thomas Cerbone on an extraordinary 42-year career.
Thomas has served New York with unwavering dedication, professionalism, and heart. His longtime “Santa Day” tradition for children with special needs reflects the true spirit of service behind the badge.
The DEA salutes you, Detective! https://t.co/tnuoh50CTG

A dedicated union delegate, David served New Yorkers and his fellow Detectives. Brooklyn North Trustee Chris Schilling and Welfare Officer Marisol Bonilla presented a plaque on behalf of the union.
