ILOILO: JALAUR MEGA DAM PROJECT
Aside from the mangroves and the Iloilo Esplanade, the Province of Iloilo is leading the way in flood control and farm irrigation measures with the near completion of the Jalaur Mega Dam Project.
Sana all like Iloilo.
Here’s a short history of the project:
✅ Proposed by the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) and recommended by National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) in 2011
✅ Approved by President Benigno S. Aquino III (PNoy) in 2012
✅ Groundbreaking ceremony conducted in 2013 under PNoy’s administration and attended by Senators Franklin Drilon, Koko Pimentel, Bam Aquino, and Risa Hontiveros
✅💲Funding throug a loan agreement with the Korean government (through KEXIM Bank) was also signed during PNoy’s term
❌ Credit grabbed by Duterte through his Build! Build! Build! promo
⚠️ Inaugurated by BBM in July 2024 and will be fully operational and functional in 2025
⚠️ Flood control measure: “The lower part of the Jalaur River experiences seasonal flooding. When there is heavy downpour, during the months of June to September, the river overflows and floods the surrounding area.

Cebu is drowning — not just in rain, but in greed. When developers strip our mountains bare and DENR looks away, floods become inevitable. It’s time to fight back. File a Writ of Kalikasan. Protect Cebu.
Let the Sunlight In: Why the ICI Must Open Its Hearings to the Public
By Dr. Tony Leachon
The Independent Commission on Infrastructure (ICI) was created to restore public trust and investigate systemic corruption in the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). But its decision to keep hearings closed to the public threatens to undermine that mission.
This is no ordinary inquiry. The alleged flood control scam implicates not just mid-level contractors, but powerful figures—including former DPWH Secretary Mark Villar, Speaker Martin Romualdez, and members of the House of Representatives linked to anomalous budget insertions and ghost projects. The stakes are national. The silence is deafening.
With Mayor Benjamin Magalong’s resignation from the ICI, Senator Ping Lacson’s planned exit from the Blue Ribbon Committee, and the absence of Zaldy Co, the public is left wondering: who will carry the torch of accountability?
Senate President Tito Sotto has joined calls for the ICI to make its hearings public, affirming that transparency is essential to restoring credibility. His support underscores a growing consensus: the Filipino people deserve to witness the truth unfold—not through filtered summaries, but through direct access.
Transparency is not a threat—it is a safeguard. Livestreaming hearings would deter political interference, empower whistleblowers, and affirm that the Commission has nothing to hide. The people deserve to know: Who are the masterminds? What patterns of abuse have emerged? What timelines and milestones will mark progress?
This is not about spectacle. It is about integrity. The Commission must be trustworthy, especially now that institutional leadership is in flux. The public has smelled blood. We must not lose momentum.
Beyond the ICI, transparency must extend to budget hearings in both chambers of Congress—including bicameral committee meetings, where critical decisions on public funds are made. These sessions must be opened to scrutiny, not shielded by procedure. The people have a right to know how their money is allocated, and who benefits from it.
Conclusion: Sunlight Is Armor
In the words of Justice Louis Brandeis, “Sunlight is said to be the best of disinfectants.” Public access is not a threat to fairness—it is its companion. It shields the process from manipulation, empowers civic engagement, and affirms the dignity of every Filipino who demands truth.
We do not ask for spectacle. We ask for sunlight. Let the hearings be open. Let the truth be visible. Let reform begin not in silence, but in solidarity.

ICI should make its hearings public or transparent. Lalo na si Mark Villar pala sasalang bukas.
Heed the call of Cardinal Pablo David and the Church!
We want transparency NOW!
LINO CAYETANO URGES OWN FAMILY TO 'LET GO OF POWER' IN SUPPORT OF SNAP ELECTION CALL
Former Taguig City Mayor Lino Cayetano on Sunday urged his own family to "let go of power" as a gesture of sincerity, expressing full support for his brother, Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano's call for all top government officials to resign and pave the way for a snap election.
"I support this proposal. I agree with my brother Alan and ask that we start with ourselves. Give up power. And this movement for real transformation will be a legacy our Father will be truly proud of," Lino said in a social media post.
He went further by proposing that no member of the Cayetano family should seek national or local positions in the 2028 elections.
"I will support further that no Cayetano should run in 2028. Lahat tayo," he said. "Let go of power — then people will believe."
Lino said the act of stepping aside would prove that the proposal is not a political gimmick but a sincere attempt to address the public's growing frustration.
"For the status quo to step down may be the only way to give our country a chance — baka ito lang pag asa natin sa tunay na pagbabago," he said.
He added that the next generation of Filipinos, from the private sector to the youth, is "ready to lead" if given the opportunity.
The former mayor's statement came after his brother, Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano, suggested a "national reset" through a snap election in which no incumbent from the President down to Congress would be allowed to run again.
"If we truly serve the people, then we should be willing to sacrifice our posts for the sake of rebuilding their trust," the senator said.
LENI PERSONALLY ATTENDED OVP BUDGET DELIBERATIONS DESPITE DUTERTE'S ATTACKS
Former Vice President and now Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo consistently attended budget briefings and plenary deliberations of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) from fiscal year (FY) 2017 to 2022, personally presenting and defending the office's proposed budgets without seeking any conditions, despite former President Rodrigo Duterte repeatedly lashing out at her, including telling her "Mamatay ka na" in one of his addresses to the nation during the pandemic.
Robredo appeared before the Senate Committee on Finance in 2017 to defend the OVP and HUDCC budgets. She returned to the House of Representatives for plenary deliberations in 2018 and 2019, and personally attended the 2020 budget hearings, with some lawmakers even suggesting an increase. Despite the COVID-19 lockdown, she continued her attendance, personally appearing for the 2021 and 2022 OVP budgets, including presenting the 2022 budget herself before the House Committee on Appropriations.
In contrast, Vice President Sara Duterte sought conditions before attending the House plenary deliberations on the OVP's proposed P902.895 million budget for FY 2026. In a letter dated September 30 to House Committee on Appropriations Chairperson Rep. Mika Suansing, Duterte said she would attend only if the House also demanded President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s attendance for the Office of the President's P27.3 billion budget deliberation, or if the Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability provided a Department of Justice (DOJ) document confirming that Immigration Lookout Bulletin Orders (ILBOs) on seven OVP personnel had been lifted.
The ILBOs were issued by the DOJ in November 2024 at the request of the House in connection with an investigation into the alleged misuse of OVP funds. The inquiry followed a privilege speech by Manila 2nd District Rep. Rolando Valeriano, citing Commission on Audit (COA) findings that disallowed over P73 million of the P125 million in confidential funds allocated to the OVP in 2022, which were spent in just 11 days. COA ordered Duterte, along with two OVP officials, to return the disallowed amount.
Notably, Duterte and her office's representatives were also absent during the sponsorship and debate on the OVP's proposed P2.26 billion budget for FY 2025, highlighting a marked contrast with Robredo's tenure.
This innocent child was a casualty of Duterte's "kill, kill, kill" orders, a death dismissed by his stupid police chief because "shit happens".
Alan Cawatano should imagine if this was his child or relative.
LAGOT ANG MGA KURAKOT! 😡
“HE SHOULD COME CLEAN”
Bayan Muna’s @teddycasino says genuine reform can only start if President Marcos Jr first acknowledges his family’s role in history.
Teddy then turns emotional as he thinks of the country’s future,
“Mahirap naman na… yung mga anak natin ganito pa rin?”
@ANCALERTS@ABSCBNNews
Leni is a THREAT. Kaya sinuportahan ng mga kurap ang tandem ni BBM at Inday. They know they can thrive if they are the leaders.
We could have saved ourselves billions. But the 31M voters preferred to have our money stolen.
