What needs to happen:
Österdahl fired
The EBU Reference Group fired
Israel banned
Moroccanoil contract terminated
Atonement to the Netherlands (disproportionate, as the DQ was)
A public statement admitting culpability
What will actually happen:
Nothing
(In the past they used ISO codes to sort, so 🇬🇧🇭🇷🇨🇭 were placed as GB/HR/CH, but this year it's just English alphabetical order which means 🇬🇧 moves to CD2. Then splitting the odd number of tracks so the extra one is on CD2 means 🇮🇪 is buried at the end of CD1 and ☠️ opens CD2.)
Saw this year's Eurovision CD in a shop last night (didn't buy) and if you're still expecting the @EBU_HQ to actually do anything meaningful in the face of genocide, please note the track order this year was changed to ensure Hurricane was Track 1 and thus impossible to avoid.
@JamesMartinTVR I disagree that it wasn't bad. Even things that should have been great were terrible. I don't know how or when Petra forgot how to read an autocue, for example, but that happened constantly during the three shows.
In January, so many past winners wanted to be involved with Luxembourg's national final that eight of them got demoted to a Cameo montage.
By May, the @EBU_HQ had mishandled things so badly Charlotte Perrelli got trotted out three times in Malmö.
@LoveLovePeaceP1@SchlagerKaty I'm fine with it. Happy to help out as you need to, but it'd be early Sunday Australia time and I'd be getting ready to work so I don't know how much assistance I could be.
@EuroOzdale Yes. Policy was explicitly "rainbow flag", not "pride flag". They're backpedaling because after everything else that happened they realise that punishing the winner would be too far for a big swathe of homose--Eurovision fans.
