The European network for Particle physics, Lattice field theory and Extreme computing is an MSCA ITN funded by the European Commission #H2020#LatticeQCD#HPC
(1/7) Hi! We are #EuroPLEx, a @MSCActions network of 14 PhD students from all over the world involved in #ParticlePhysics, #LatticeFieldTheory and #ExtremeComputing.
What are we made of? What are the fundamental building stones of our universe?

Can we do machine learning with quantum fields?
And how does this relate to the mathematical foundations of quantum field theory?
Our fellow @DBachtis answers these questions in an article written for @IyC_es.

Colliders, supercomputers and a prize. Confinement is a long journey through mathematics and physics, full of challenges beyond a quadrillionth of a meter. Check out our new blog post:

Then we have seen how to relate the physics of a finite box to experimental results, such as the ones from #LHC. Together with #LatticeQCD simulations, this gives us a powerful probe for #NewPhysics!
One possibility we learned from Max is that reducing everything to a finite box can actually be an advantage rather than a problem! The effects of a finite volume can be smartly related to infinite-volume things💡💡
A Summer School is a nice opportunity to meet experts who will talk about their research fields, but a lot of time is also spent sharing ideas and discussing experiences.
We are excited to see where else this school goes, and hope to make new friends and colleagues!😀😀
For the next two weeks, we're having the #EuroPLExSummerSchool2021 organised by @HiggsCentre and us, with participants all over the world
Watch out for what we've been learning in the first week on the thread ahead 😜

With Peter, we are seeing the basics of computer science applied to #LatticeQCD.
Using #supercomputers we can solve many problems that are not accessible to standard laptops because it would require an incredible amount of time.
(7/7) Our mission is also to share the beauty of physics, and we are involved in outreach activities in various countries.
We joined the #EuropeanResearchersNight and we have a blog in Spanish at @IyC_es.
Follow us to get the latest news and don’t miss our outreach activity!

(6/7) To give you an idea, we are involved in lattice calculations to determine #gminus2. This was recently at the centre of scientific discussions thanks to the experiment at @Fermilab, which might be detecting hints for #NewPhysics.
Results of the recent muon experiment at Fermilab may be a sign of new physics, but a new theoretical calculation that uses a different approach muddles the issue.
