How do we define resilience? 🤔 What are its essential components, and how can we create resilient societies? 🌍 These questions guided our recent discussion with experts from the region and Ukraine during the #EUSBSRforum2024 panel session, "Recipes for Resilience – Communities, Culture, and Comprehensive Security".

"Resilience is the ability to meet, endure and bounce back better than before. Resilience begins at home, the local, the regional community. But we are not home alone, we are interconnected with our neigbours. To build societal resilience, we have to work togeter," emphasised Bengt Sundelius, Strategic Advisor to the Director General of the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency, during his speech on resilience. 💪🏡

A big thank you to all the amazing panelists for such an important and productive discussion! 🙏✨

“Food Security and Home Preparedness" was the first parallel session at the #EUSBSRforum2024 with our active involvement today. Experts discussed how recent geopolitical shifts and environmental changes are impacting food security in the #BalticSeaRegion - and explored what actions we can take to prepare for these challenges, from national and regional levels down to individuals.

In times of crisis, even small preparedness steps can make a world of difference. Here's what you can do to be prepared:

✅ Increase Home Preparedness: Stock up on basic essentials and non-perishable foods to help ensure self-sufficiency during short-term disruptions.
🌱 Promote Home Gardening and Urban Farming: Supporting community gardens and small-scale food production can boost local food availability and increase resilience.
♻️ Practice Sustainable Consumption: Reducing food waste, making sustainable purchasing choices, and understanding food sourcing can lessen reliance on uncertain supply chains.
🛠 Stay Informed & Prepared: Educating yourself about potential risks and preparedness measures is vital to navigating future challenges.
