La Serenata.
A young man leans from his balcony as his lover arrives below with a mariachi band, the night filled with music and longing. I painted this as part of an ongoing exploration of queer love within Mexican visual tradition.
My family is from Cocula, a small town in Mexico where mariachi was born, so this image carries something personal for me — a meeting place between memory, desire, and cultural inheritance.
Prints of this piece are currently available. I painted it with watercolor on paper.
