Ever heard of the Giwoggle?
Deep in the woods of Pennsylvania Dutch country lives a creature that sounds like a mad scientist's experiment gone wrong. Standing six feet tall, this legend is described as a wolf-like monster that walks upright on two legs.
But it gets weirder. Instead of paws, it has bird-like claws for hands. And its back feet are actually horse hooves, which are attached completely backward. If anyone tries to track a Giwoggle, the footprints look like they are walking in the exact opposite direction, making the creature nearly impossible to follow.
Keep an eye on the treeline next time you travel through the backroads. You never know what might be watching from the shadows.
Do you realise what it means when I say I have been on thirty-seven different celestial bodies—planets, dark stars, and less definable objects—including eight outside our galaxy and two outside the curved cosmos of space and time? All this has not harmed me in the least. My brain has been removed from my body by fissions so adroit that it would be crude to call the operation surgery. The visiting beings have methods which make these extractions easy and almost normal—and one’s body never ages when the brain is out of it. The brain, I may add, is virtually immortal with its mechanical faculties and a limited nourishment supplied by occasional changes of the preserving fluid.
H.P. Lovecraft, The Whisperer in Darkness
The savage Worlds Super Powers Companion. It requires the main book, but has the tools to make any super hero games you want, from street level to cosmic level games.
I think I like the companions more than the different genre sourcebooks. Sometimes I like the “world bullding” , but most of the time I prefer to make my own worlds and just want extra stuff to help me.
I think that this is still my favorite art by the late John Blanche. His take on Nuln, my beloved Imperial city, will always be absolutely iconic to me.
R.I.P. Mr. Blanche. Your work and talent will be sorely missed.
