@glatisant0 Artists need to eat and also reap incentives for creating something that works, but the concept of capitalist ownership of ideas is getting harder to maintain. I honestly don't know what the solution is, but struggle to believe it's "a stronger concept of capitalist ownership".

Ai generated images are art. The art part is the text prompt input. Do we have to go through this same discourse every time a new medium comes out? I remember takes like "it doesn't take any skill" or "poor people can access it" applied to digital art in general not long ago.

@Euury this is the big thing that gives me pause right now, in that the technology only works when given a training set far too big to manually curate. it's definitely art in the same way that collages and mashups are, but I don't know what artists' rights look like in relation to it
