Had so much fun discussing our clinical reasoning zoo at @BCM_InternalMed grand rounds today! 🐢(slow thinking) 🐇(fast thinking) 🦓 (rare diagnoses) 🦀 (CRAB criteria)
Confused by someone labeled "immunocompromised" and their infection risks? Same. So with guidance of our ID Mentors @PrathitKulkarni, @Cortes_Penfield, & @transplantID - @KatieBedardMD, Charmaine Mutucumarana and I created an Infections in Immunocompromised Hosts Schema
Ongoing excellent BSLMC/VAMC Grand Rounds by current chief medical residents @mcclaffertyMD and @nepherson !!

When checking a pulsus paradoxus, don't look for the Korotkoff sounds to "go away with inspiration."
Instead note the difference in SBP between appearance of intermittent (Korotkoff) sounds and appearance of continuous sounds.
That's the pulsus.
(1/7) I had an excellent time working with @EvaAmenta (1st auth), @A_Spallonii (2nd auth), and others from @BCMDeptMedicine@bcmhouston on our review of the post-acute #COVID19.
Many thanks to @BiykemB for helpful conversations regarding this topic.
