The Symbolic Battle: Lizards and toads are carved crawling up the banister. The toads represent darkness and evil, while the lizards represent light and good, as they bask in the sun.

I always wondered.

Completed in 1902 by Daniel Burnham, the iconic wedge-shaped layout features the famous panoramic "Point" office at the narrow prow and a bizarre central restroom with three separate entry doors. Originally built without dedicated women's restrooms.
