This feels a bit unnecessary, but just in case Twitter has any sort of disruptions or outages, feel free to preemptively follow me via other social networks you may already use: https://t.co/3QJVXNPchE
I made a thing about #Evangelion. It is extremely specific and nerdy. It's probably not what you were expecting, but enjoy anyway. https://t.co/IcqnRUQMl0
@Matthew43220559@KennyLauderdal3 If you're able to digitize it, please let me know. I'd like to get a copy for my archives. Also, if you feel comfortable mailing it, I have the means to digitize/archive VHS. Eva's public broadcast on KTEH is an important, but ephemeral part of its history outside of Japan.
We are closer to 29 years at this point. It will be 29 years in 3 months and some change (Oct. 4th). Still, time flies. I remember the days when it had only been a few years since it had aired. #Evangelion
@Jikorijo@GKIDSfilms Despite the fact that I've been told over the years that I'm in effect "doing it wrong" and that the original versions are completely irrelevant, I still have a great deal of affinity for the original versions, I think they are a better match emotional match for the TV ending.
Hideaki Anno's follow up to #Evangelion, Kare Kano (His and Her Circumstances), premiered 25 years ago today. Anyone have any memories of this show? https://t.co/dhu5XCOzUM
@Riftseeker1 All I know is that they were hand painted. I know he did a lot of watercolor during that time period, it may be a combination of that along with something like a copic marker. Hard to say, I don't really have an eye for it.
The first two volumes of the Evangelion manga included several pages of full-color artwork. It's a nice transition for fans of the anime jumping into the manga for the first time. #Evangelion#YoshiyukiSadamoto#EvaMangaMonday
@gorkedup I will keep that in mind. Not sure if I'll see it in theaters, but I'll definitely get to it at some point. It'll probably land on HBO Max in the next few months.
@_deezle_@GKIDSfilms@AllTheAnime I think there may have been in the UK, but here in North America, there's only been a single standard retail DVD and BD. The only thing worth noting is that, like many video releases, the early printings of 2.22 had an orange slip cover.
If you haven't heard, pre-orders for the October 17th physical release of Evangelion:3.0+1.11 have gone live in various places, including Amazon, direct from @GKIDSfilms, direct from @AllTheAnime, and more. There are various collector's and standard editions available.
@Ice_Cube_Guy@GKIDSfilms@AllTheAnime There was a detailed breakdown when they remastered 3.0 for the 3.333 release, which was 2048x858p upscaled to 4K, the original release was mastered at something like 1280x536p upscaled. Sorry I don't have the exact numbers handy at the moment, but it was absolutely less than BD.
